Proud to support workers on the issues that matter
|
As we prepare to celebrate Labor Day, I’m proud of how hard my House colleagues and I have fought for PA workers on the issues that really matter. Here’s a sample of bills we’ve advanced:
- A higher minimum wage of $15 per hour by 2029.
- Paid family and medical leave for PA workers.
- Unemployment compensation for striking workers in PA.
- OSHA standards for Pennsylvania’s public workers.
- Requirements aimed at preventing workplace violence in the healthcare sector.
I’ve also supported recent state budgets that help eligible working families keep more of what they earn and make significant investments in workforce training, apprenticeships, and career pathways.
I greatly appreciate the contributions that all our workers make to our communities and economy. You deserve respect and recognition for your hard work, and I hope you’re able to take the day to relax and recharge this Labor Day.

Labor Day office closures

My office is closed today through Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen for our regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
As we honor the hard work of employees everywhere, I hope you enjoy some well-earned time off.

I will be speaking at the Labor Union Flag Raising in City Park on Monday to recognize the hard-working men and women throughout history who have helped build our communities, strengthen our economy, and move our nation forward. I hope to see you there!

What to know about measles and school vaccinations in Pennsylvania
|
Pennsylvania is currently experiencing a measles outbreak, with 540 confirmed cases across 31 counties, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Measles is highly contagious and can cause serious health complications. The good news is that it is preventable. The MMR vaccine remains the best protection against measles and helps prevent the spread of the disease.
With cases continuing to rise, it’s important to stay informed and make sure you and your family are protected. You can learn more about measles and the latest case information from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
As students head back to school, I also want to remind families that Pennsylvania’s school vaccination requirements have not changed. Pennsylvania continues to set its own immunization requirements for students attending school.
Families can review Pennsylvania’s school vaccinations requirements and recommended immunization information through the PA Department of Health. If you have questions about which vaccinations your child may need, you can also speak with your child’s healthcare provider.

Recently, I attended Reading City Councilman Jaime Baez Jr.’s annual Party at the Park! The event brought an afternoon of activities, resources, and entertainment to Pendora Park.
Attendees were treated with backpack and school supply giveaways, bounce houses, a dunk tank, delicious local food trucks, free haircuts, face painting, and community resources. There was also a free Philadelphia 76ers tickets giveaway!
I had a great time connecting with neighbors and discussing my role as a state representative. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Wrapping up Muhlenberg Township’s 10th annual Riverfest
|
I had an incredible time at Muhlenberg Township’s 10th annual Riverfest! Music, food, drinks, local vendors, and great people filled Jim Dietrich Park for the festivities!
We kicked off the festival by celebrating Muhlenberg Township’s 175th anniversary with fireworks and an amazing drone show!
It was wonderful celebrating everything that makes Muhlenberg Township such a special place to call home. Thank you to everyone who helped make Riverfest and this milestone celebration such a success. I’m already looking forward to next year!

Recognizing the Muhlenberg Area Ambulance Association for their outstanding service
|
I stopped by Muhlenberg Area Ambulance Association to present a House citation recognizing the incredible work this team does!
During EMS Week in May, Reading Hospital recognized the Muhlenberg Area Ambulance Association for their outstanding dedication to the community. The award specifically highlights the agency’s overall performance, teamwork, and service quality in prehospital emergency care.
It was well-deserved, and I’m so proud of this dedicated team!
