Community Cleanup with POCSA
|
I had a great time helping to clean up Lindbergh Field in Southwest Philadelphia with Pennsylvania Oldtimers Community Sports Association last Saturday on their Community Clean Up Day! Our local organizations like POCSA do so much to keep our communities clean and active, and boost our quality of life.

Working for YOU in Harrisburg
|
This week we had some of our final days of voting in this legislative session. We were very busy moving many important bills that will help our neighbors and improve communities. Several moved to the Senate and many went to the Governor’s desk, as well. Here are some highlights from this week:
We’re protecting your privacy while maintaining public safety by regulating the use of Automated License Plate Readers, like Flock cameras.
I was happy to support the effort of my colleague from North and West Philadelphia Rep. Roni Green to protect renters by requiring landlords to define parking and fees to prospective tenants before they sign a lease. This also helps homeowners by easing the availability of street parking. This bill is headed to the governor for his signature!
We’re also working to put more money back in families’ pockets by updating the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit program to align with recent federal updates.

Save the Date: Human Trafficking Symposium
|
I hope you'll save the date for my Human Trafficking Symposium on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Center City. Plan for a full day of action, education, and discussion about how to work together to end human trafficking and support survivors. We’ll have resources and information for youth, parents, survivors, educators, fighters, and anyone invested in their community. Stay tuned for more information as we confirm details!
We know education can shine a light on so much evil in this world, so I’m looking forward to working with stakeholders to develop prevention education and finding ways to attack misconceptions about trafficking.

What a huge turnout last weekend for our shredding event! These events always have long lines of cars waiting to drop off unneeded and outdated paperwork to be properly shredded and disposed of. Thanks to Speaker McClinton, Sen. Williams and Motivation/Turner Middle School for a great day of helping folks protect their identity.

It’s always an informative meeting with the Broad Street West Civic Association and great opportunity to connect with community

Does the State Owe You Money?
|
Are you one of the nearly 30,000 people in our area who has Unclaimed Property in the PA Treasury Vault? It could be anything from lost paychecks, to jewelry, to forgotten savings bonds, or so much more. Our office is reaching out to our neighbors who have something valuable in the vault, but you can search your name on their website by clicking above to find out on your own and make your claim faster!

My office helps city officials and local organizations connect to state grants available to help them do their important work to improve our communities and the lives of residents. You can find a list of state grant programs that are currently open for application on my website. We update this list as new programs come online so check back often.
