Whether you are a first-time voter or a longtime participant in the democratic process, your voice matters! We encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to plan, get informed, and take part in the upcoming election.

Registration is required to reserve a ride, so please be sure to sign up in advance by calling Shiloh Baptist Church at (717) 854-2547.

Friendly Reminder: The voter registration deadline is Monday! October 19th is the last day to register to vote in the General Election. Don't let your voice go unheard this November 3rd. More information is available below.

Around The District

Once again, I had the distinct honor of attending a naturalization ceremony in my district and presenting certificates to our newest U.S. citizens.

It’s always inspiring to witness this important milestone as individuals officially begin a new chapter in their lives. I congratulate each new citizen on this remarkable achievement and celebrate their commitment and perseverance!

I’m proud to celebrate alongside Rainbow Rose Center at the ribbon-cutting for its new location.

Since 2020, Rainbow Rose Center has been providing support to the York community, and we’re excited to welcome the center back to York City as it creates an even more accessible and welcoming space for connection, resources, and support.

Congratulations to Rainbow Rose Center on this important milestone and its continued commitment to expanding services and resources for our community!

In recognition of Diaper Need Awareness Week, I was pleased to drop off baby-to-adult diapers at York Day Learning Center and Autumn House to support those in need.

Access to adequate incontinence products plays a vital role in countless people’s everyday lives. I am grateful for the opportunity to support these two organizations and recognize the importance of raising awareness about diaper needs among children and adults in our community.

I want to thank all our donors who helped support this mission, because without you, this would not be possible.

It was an honor to visit Union Lutheran Church and learn more about its exciting plans for the new East Campus. During my visit, I had the opportunity to learn more about programs such as the Well Food Pantry and Free Clothing Store, as well as the vision for transitioning programs and services to the new campus.

I appreciate Union Lutheran’s dedication to serving individuals and families throughout our community and look forward to seeing the positive impact this new campus will have for years to come. Congratulations to Union Lutheran on this important milestone and its continued commitment to expanding services and resources for our community!

I was excited to hear about a new class project being introduced by Mr. Urrunaga at West York High School that will allow students to learn more about the legislative process and explore how laws are developed and shaped.

Through this project, students will research a bill and provide recommendations to the General Assembly. I look forward to seeing students engage with important policy issues, share their perspectives, and gain a better understanding of how they can make a difference in their communities. I believe opportunities like these are essential to encouraging civic participation and preparing the next generation of informed and engaged citizens. Thank you!

Additionally, I was pleased to visit York Suburban High School and speak with students about the role politics plays in our everyday lives and the many ways they can get involved in their communities. During my visit, I enjoyed engaging with students, answering their questions, and discussing the importance of civic participation and making their voices heard.

I greatly appreciated the students’ interest and curiosity, and I am grateful to York Suburban High School for providing opportunities to encourage civic awareness and help prepare the next generation of engaged and informed citizens.

Our office had a wonderful time volunteering at Panther Pantry on Tuesday evening! The Panther Pantry began distributing food in October 2014 and is now in its 13th year of serving families within the Central York School District. Each month, it provides food and household essentials to approximately 40–50 families through in-person shopping at the Farmhouse behind the high school. The Pantry operates entirely on donations from the community, including all seven district schools, local businesses, organizations, student groups, and scout troops, many of whose members also volunteer to help keep the Pantry stocked and organized.

OPEN Third Tuesday of each month, 5–6 PM at the Farmhouse on Central York High School Campus.

This week, I was pleased to visit September House Senior Center, tour the facility, and meet with the seniors it serves.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to learn more about the center’s programs, needs, and the important role it plays in our community. I appreciate the work September House does to serve our seniors and remain committed to identifying ways we can help strengthen its services and ensure our constituents continue to feel supported and connected to the community!

I was pleased to tour The Grotto Commons this week; a nonprofit creative and entrepreneurial community center located in the former York Dispatch campus.

During my visit, I had the opportunity to learn more about its current programming, the resources it provides to our community, and its plans to renovate the remaining space through a capital campaign and public-private funding. I appreciate the work The Grotto Commons is doing to foster creativity, entrepreneurship, and community connections, and I remain committed to identifying ways we can support its continued growth and help ensure this space reaches its full potential!

On Saturday, our office held our first annual Healthcare Fair at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church! We are incredibly grateful to all the vendors and community partners who participated and helped make this event a success. Attendees could receive free vaccines and access a variety of health resources from vendors such as Planned Parenthood, NAMI, and Highmark. Their dedication to connecting residents with valuable healthcare services and community resources made the fair a meaningful opportunity for everyone in attendance.

Thank you to all our vendors, volunteers, and community members who joined us and helped make our first annual healthcare fair a success! We look forward to continuing to bring our community together through events like these.

On Saturday, our office had the distinct pleasure of presenting a proclamation to Liquid Hero Brewery for their fifteenth anniversary! This milestone recognizes fifteen years of hard work, dedication, and contributions to our local community.

We congratulate the team at Liquid Hero Brewery on this exciting achievement and thank them for being a valued part of our community. We wish them continued success for many years to come!

Bethlehem Baptist Church celebrated a remarkable milestone of 100 years of faith, fellowship, and service to the community on Sunday! I was honored to present an official proclamation recognizing this historic anniversary and the church’s enduring legacy.

This special occasion served as a family reunion, bringing together generations of members and friends to reconnect, share treasured memories, and honor the church’s rich history. Congratulations to Bethlehem Baptist Church on 100 years of faith and fellowship and best wishes for many more years of continued service to the community!

Notice of Upcoming Medicaid Changes

Changes to Medicaid, also known as Medical Assistance in Pennsylvania, are coming on January 1, 2027, because of changes to federal law. More information is expected to be released, but here is what you need to know for now:

  • Some adults will need to renew their Medicaid Plan every six months instead of annually.
  • A new requirement means some adults enrolled in Medicaid will need to participate in work, school, job training, volunteering, or other community activities.

If you receive Medicaid, now is a good time to make sure your mailing address and contact information are up to date with DHS so you don’t miss important notices about these changes.
