Abington Library Receives Keystone Grant for Public Library Facilities

I am thrilled to announce that Abington Library is the recipient of a Keystone Grant for Public Libraries totaling nearly $750,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries, which will be matched by funds from the Library's Building Fund, to plan and design a new main library facility that is sustainable, accessible, efficient, and tailored to the needs of our community.

I recognize the importance of a strong library, especially in encouraging the education and growth of our children, and I support efforts to renovate the current space to ensure that the new facility fully meets the needs and expectations of the community.

I look forward to following the planning and progress of this exciting project, and congratulations on receiving this grant award!

Bears Barista Opens in the
Upper Moreland School District

My staffer, Laura, was thrilled to attend the ribbon cutting for the first ever Bears Barista – a coffee shop completely run by the B.E.A.R.S. Transition Program students at Upper Moreland High School.

These kids are simply amazing. The work they have put into developing, planning, and now making this coffee shop a reality is truly remarkable. Bears Barista gives these young adults the chance to learn functional, everyday skills, as well as build their confidence, employability, and academic and independent living skills to smoothly transition them to their next phase of life.

The energy, camaraderie, and joy of their success are a true testament to what these special kids have to offer our community.

You should swing by the café, which is located on the ground floor of the Upper Moreland School District Administration Building, 509 Davisville Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090. They are open to the public Wednesday-Friday from 8am-11am on the days that school is in session for Upper Moreland students.

The drinks and snacks are delish, and the service will definitely put a smile on your face!

Batter Up! Little League Opening Day Across the District

Both Hatboro and Upper Moreland Little Leagues held their opening day ceremonies on Saturday. I am honored to be a sponsor with each organization.

The excitement in the air was unmistakable, as players, families, coaches, and community members gathered to mark this special tradition. Seeing the players take the field with enthusiasm and pride is a reminder of how important these organizations are to our children – teaching them confidence, teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship.

I must also shoutout all the volunteers who make these leagues run. From coaches to parents, to snack stand volunteers and community supporters– it takes a village to make the little league such a vital and meaningful part of our communities.

I hope that all teams have a fun, safe, and successful season!!

Safely dispose of old documents and keep your sensitive information out of the wrong hands.
