Our Annual Back to School Supply Drive

📚Our annual "Back to School Supply Drive" is happening now! This year we are collecting supplies for a wonderful local organization, the Breathing Room Foundation, that helps so many in and around our community.
Breathing Room Foundation dedicates itself to improving the lives of families affected by cancer by ensuring that no one is alone in their fight, and we are happy to support their endeavors. Please drop off all donations to my district office during normal walk-in hours before Augusts 7th. If you need to drop off supplies at a different time, just give us a call to make sure someone will be there to collect them.
On behalf of my office and the Breathing Room Foundation, we thank you in advance for your participation! I am always blown away by the incredible kindness from all of you. Let's get these supplies in the hands (and on the backs) of the children who need them.🍎✏️

While you are enjoying the summer season, scammers are continuing to target PECO customers, and their tactics are becoming more convincing. Some now use advanced technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and may pressure you with threats—such as immediate service shutoff—to try to get your payment or personal information.
If you receive a suspicious phone call, text, email, or an unexpected visit from someone claiming to be from PECO, do not share any information or make a payment. Instead, hang up and contact PECO directly at 800‑494‑4000.
What to Watch Out For
- PECO will never demand immediate payment, threaten shutoffs, or request payment through gift cards or third‑party apps.
- PECO will never call a customer to discuss their energy supplier or usage.

How to Protect Yourself
- Verify your bill: Check your printed bill or log on to PECO.com or the PECO mobile app to check your account status, balances, and payments.
- Protect yourself: Never open your door to someone you do not recognize. Ask for a photo ID through a window - All PECO employees and contractors carry company ID badges displaying their name, photograph and identification number, but don’t fall for a fake badge.
- Protect account information: Do not provide your PECO account information or your PECO bill to anyone. A real PECO representative will have the account information they need when they call.
- Be mindful of scam tactics: Sophisticated scammers may employ technology to be even more convincing by using a tactic called "spoofing" to manipulate the Caller ID phone number displayed on your phone so that it appears to be a PECO phone number.

Budget Highlights - Education Funding
|
This year's budget yet again increased funding for public schools in the commonwealth by $670 million, a bulk of which ensures that there is adequate funding for all spread throughout the state. This important investment in our students will help to ensure more school districts receive the funding they need to reach the benchmarks for success. I am happy to say that we are bringing home an increase of funds to our own Abington and Upper Dublin school districts as a result of this budget.
Another important portion of the Education funding was $50 million for basic education and special education. The purpose of this money, while we wish could be more, is to help ensure that students who need more support receive it without cutting costs elsewhere.
Safety and security are extremely important in today's world. That is why, for the first time ever, Pennsylvania is investing a portion of the budget to school mapping. This crucial tool will help keep students safe, understand accessibility needs better and analyze spatial date related to educational resources, demographics and performance within school districts, aiming to address inequities and optimize planning for facilities and student access.
There is much more to know about the Education funding portion of the 2026/27 Pennsylvania budget, including increased funding for Mental Health support, Grow PA Scholarships, student teacher stipends and more.

SEPTA SENIOR ID SIGNUP - Popping up around the district!

Seniors ages 65 and older can ride SEPTA routes in PA for free with a Senior Fare Card. This summer my office has been making sure that this service reaches people in different areas of the district by organizing SEPTA SENIOR ID POP-UP HOURS!
Last week my office set up at Rydal Park. They were happy to connect with the many residents who came by the table. This week they "popped up" at our usual mobile office hours at the Upper Dublin Public Library.
Where will they be next? We'll be heading to our friends at Hill House Condominiums on August 6th.
If you have a suggestion on where our mobile Septa Senior ID hours should pop up next, let us know and we'll see if we can make it happen.

Montgomery County Delegation Statement
|
There is no place for hate-filled rhetoric, violent threats, or racially targeted harassment in our communities. No one, including those who choose to serve the public, should be subjected to intimidation because of the color of their skin.
I stand in solidarity with my colleagues and with everyone who has faced racial abuse in condemning these disgraceful acts. We must speak with one voice to reject racism, denounce attempts to intimidate Black and Brown leaders, and reaffirm that hate and fear have no place in our democracy.

TOWNSHIP HAPPENINGS AND INFORMATION

ROCKLEDGE BOROUGH:
Public Works Laborer- Rockledge Borough, Montgomery County
The Borough of Rockledge, Montgomery County is accepting applications for a part-time position as a laborer for the Public Works Department. The Borough is looking for prospective employees to be able to work 8 hours a day for 3 days for a total of 24 hours a week. Duties include but are not limited to buildings and grounds maintenance, grass cutting, road maintenance, snow plowing, leaf collection and other assigned duties. Applicants should be able to perform manual labor under all weather conditions and be able to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Applicants must be able to safely operate grass cutting equipment, chainsaws, snow blowers, leaf machines and similar equipment as directed. Applicants will also need to be on call during emergency situations. Applicants must also have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license. Successful applicants must also undergo a background check and an introductory drug test.
Applications can be picked up at the Borough Building, 121 Huntington Pike, Rockledge PA., 19406. Salary DOQ. While applications are ongoing, the Borough reserves the right to interview candidates as applications are received.
