PECO's Proposed Rate Increase

Recently, PECO proposed an additional utility rate increase. I joined my colleagues and Governor Shapiro in opposing PECO’s request for this increase. We also called on you for help by circulating a petition against this change. This morning, PECO announced that they have rescinded the request to increase rates. I am glad to see that they heard our concerns and took immediate action. Looking ahead, I will continue to advocate for legislation that prioritizes affordability for our residents and supports our economy and working families.

PUC Hearings on Aqua's Proposed Merger

Currently, two of the largest water providers in our state have proposed a merger that would create a monopoly. If approved, a merger between Pennsylvania American Water and Essential Utilities (the parent company of Aqua Pennsylvania) would create the largest private water utility in the country.

The PUC will be holding Public Input Hearings next week. This is a great opportunity for our community to voice their opinions on this matter.

Wednesday, April 22 – Penn State Great Valley Conference Center

30 Swedesford Rd., Malvern, PA 19355

  • Hearing #1 will begin at 1 p.m.
  • Hearing #2 will begin at 6 p.m.

Telephonic Public Input Hearings will be on April 28 at 1 p.m. & 6 p.m. If you wish to testify at the telephonic hearing, preregistration is encouraged by April 27. Additional details can be found on the PUC website here: https://tinyurl.com/3mppbwnk
