Dear Inquirer,

Happy Friday, San Diego! Could you help us get the word out about this newsletter? I’d really appreciate it if you’d consider sending this email to a friend or neighbor. Better yet, encourage them to sign up for future editions so they can keep a pulse on what’s happening in District 7 and beyond.

60th Town Hall recap! 🎉

We had nearly 80 people participate in my 60th town hall event last weekend! It was a great opportunity to connect with folks and discuss pressing local issues, including fire safety, road maintenance, and trash and water billing.

Next up! With El Niño on its way, I want you to have the chance to ask questions and hear directly from me and staff from the City's Office of Emergency Services. My next town hall will focus on El Niño preparedness and will be held Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Mission Valley Library. You can RSVP by clicking here.

What you’re saying re: the trash fee billing errors

“It’s so refreshing to have at least one council member that’s from San Diego and understands what’s happening in our city…I don’t know how many seniors are going to be ripped off by this stupid trash fee on our property taxes…Thanks for listening, loving our city and doing your best to preserve The San Diegan Way.” – Linda

“I appreciated your insightful and comprehensive article in today’s newspaper. What was particularly heartening/helpful was the information concerning the webpage address and phone number for the Waste Portal, but more important to me was your offer to help any resident, no matter the district, to navigate this process…The thought of trying to battle the City bureaucracy on my own is overwhelming.” – Cia

“Mr. Campillo: I commend you for your tireless attempts to ‘help’ our city government represent the homeowners/citizens/taxpayers. I filed two appeals with the city regarding the trash collection fee that was inappropriately imposed. I received no response. The inefficiencies are evident. Finding solutions is key.” – Gay

"We got the overcharge taken off the bill. YEA!" – Jane and Steve

Thank you all for taking the time to read my newsletters and formulate thoughtful responses to these important issues.

The good news here is that the City provided the County with corrected solid waste management fee data and continues to work together with the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office to update the affected property tax statements. Learn more about these efforts here.

Secure Your Child’s Future with Proper Car Seat Safety and Installation

To raise awareness about the importance of car seat safety and proper installation, SDPD encourages all parents and caregivers to make sure children are riding safely by using the correct car seats, booster seats, and properly fitted seat belts.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 46% of car seats are misused – that’s nearly half! Properly installed car seats have been shown to reduce fatal injury crashes by 71% for infants under a year old and by 54% for toddlers ages 1 through 4. For more information, click here.

Times of San Diego: Here’s where you can pick up sandbags to prepare for El Niño storm flooding

As reported by Times of San Diego, here is a list of locations where San Diegans can pick up sandbags to fill in case of flooding caused by El Niño-related storms.

The City has made empty sandbags available at recreation centers around town. Please note that residents may only use up to 10 bags per residence or business, and that sand must be purchased separately at a local hardware or home improvement store – digging it up from a beach is not permitted.

For more information, please visit the City’s online information resource page.
