Bucks County Bridge #140 Dedication
|
On Tuesday, we attended the dedication of Bucks County Bridge #140 on Valley Road in Warminster Township, which was named in memory of Hospitalman William James Barr, U.S. Navy.
Hospitalman Barr was just 19 years old when he died of malaria in Gia Dinh Province, Vietnam, on July 16, 1968. A Warminster resident and William Tennent High School graduate, he made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
We honor his service, remember his sacrifice, and extend our gratitude to his family and loved ones.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
|
During October, we wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
As a cancer survivor myself, I share a common bond with anyone who has gone through the crucible that is cancer treatment. To all those battling breast cancer, to those who have passed, to those that have beaten it, and to the families of those affected by all cancer, know that I will be thinking of you.
I will always support investing more resources in medical research so that someday we can call cancer a thing of the past.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month
|
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
This month, we stand with survivors of domestic violence and recognize the importance of creating safe, supportive communities where everyone can live free from fear and abuse.
Domestic violence can affect people of all backgrounds and circumstances. Raising awareness, supporting survivors, and connecting people with resources can help break the cycle of violence.

Fire Prevention Week (October 4-10)
|
October 4–10 is Fire Prevention Week!
This week, we’re reminded of the importance of fire safety at home and in our communities. As a former firefighter myself, I am always passionate about fire safety and fire prevention education.
Make sure your smoke alarms are working, that you have a fire escape plan, and that you talk with your family about what to do in case of a fire.

Last week, I was thrilled to present a check for a $90,000 grant to the Bucks County Chief Science Officers at the Bucks FabLab Center in Warminster.
This grant will go toward implementing a county-wide STEM education initiative.I am a strong supporter of STEM and will always support getting more resources for the next generation of scientists, engineers, inventors, and innovators.
Thank you to Rep. Tim Brennan and Rep. Jim Prokopiak for helping me to procure this funding!

Notice of Upcoming Medicaid Changes
|
Changes to Medicaid, also known as Medical Assistance in Pennsylvania, are coming on January 1, 2027, because of changes to federal law. More information is expected to be released, but here is what you need to know for now:
- Some adults will need to renew their Medicaid Plan every six months instead of annually.
- A new requirement means some adults enrolled in Medicaid will need to participate in work, school, job training, volunteering, or other community activities.
If you receive Medicaid, now is a good time to make sure your mailing address and contact information are up to date with DHS so you don’t miss important notices about these changes.

Bucks County’s vote-by-mail season is officially underway, with the first mail ballots already being sent to voters. Prefer to handle your mail-in ballot in person? Seven “on-demand” locations are now open across the county.
On-demand voting allows you to go to a designated location, request a mail-in ballot, fill it out on site, and return it immediately. You don’t have to wait for a ballot to arrive in the mail or visit the post office.
On-demand locations include the Board of Elections office, Government Services Centers in Quakertown and Levittown, the Warminster Township Free Library, and Bucks County Community College campuses. Each location also has a secure ballot drop box staffed by a Board of Elections employee during operating hours.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is October 27. Completed ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 3.
