STATE INVESTMENT FOR FAIRVIEW

IMPROVEMENTS

Fairview Township is continuing to invest in its downtown to create a safer, more welcoming community for residents, businesses and visitors.

Earlier this month, I met with township officials to review plans for improvements along West Ridge Road, including upgraded sidewalks and pedestrian infrastructure to improve safety, encourage foot traffic, better connect local businesses and support continued economic development.

I followed up several days later, this time with PA Secretary of Transportation Mike Carroll, to bring some of that "get shit done" energy to things. Mike and I served together for years in the legislature, and he knows the value of projects like this goes well beyond the price tag.

It’s important to bring in the state to see what investment is needed, and I appreciate Secretary Carroll taking the time to go over details with local officials. I look forward to working together to get this across the goal line.

SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP MILLCREEK SAFE

When things go wrong, our first responders need the right tools to respond quickly, investigate thoroughly and keep our community safe. When Millcreek Township PD reached out for help securing a new Traffic Safety Unit, I went to work and secured the $133,000 in state funding to make it happen.

This new cruiser is fully equipped to help officers conduct complex traffic investigations on township roads, improve roadway safety and protect our community.

I’m proud to bring our tax dollars back home and support the men and women who keep Millcreek safe every day.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL REMINDER

It’s nearly September and schools around the state are returning to the classroom. Remember, drivers must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses with red lights flashing and stop arm activated.

Yellow lights on a school bus indicate the bus is preparing to stop.

Traffic in both directions must stop for a school bus on a two-lane road, a two-lane road with a turning lane and a four-lane road with a turning lane. The lone exception is on a highway with physical barriers like a grassy median or concrete barriers, where motorists in the opposing lanes may proceed without stopping.

Please be aware of young student drivers behind the wheel. If you’re driving, slow down, stay alert, and watch out for children.

  • Millcreek’s first day for students: Aug. 31
  • Fairview’s first day for students: Sept. 2
