CAN'T STOP, WON'T STOP - IT'S BEEN A BUSY AUGUST

I don't know about all of you, but I feel like summer has been flying by and August was a busy month! We started at Pre-Night Out in Abington thanks to our exceptional Abington Police Department; we completed not one, but two successful Back-to-School Drives for the folks at The Breathing Room Foundation and to help our friends at Montgomery County Health and Human Services. I was able to visit the College Settlement Camp in Horsham to learn about the incredible opportunities they offer, we cut the ribbon on the Blair Mill Road Safety Improvements Project, held multiple SEPTA ID pop-up events and we said goodbye to our three amazing interns as they left to go to/back to college. We're wishing them and all of the college students heading to college right now, including my own daughter, a happy and successful year ahead!

ABINGTON PRE-NIGHT OUT

One of my favorite community nights of the year is always Abington's Pre-Night Out event.
I was happy to once again see so many friends and neighbors this past Monday at the annual event that brings together our law enforcement, firefighters, first responders and community members in a fun block party environment. Thank you to the organizers and to everyone who stopped by our table to say hello, spin our "Best of PA" wheel or get information from one of my summer interns or staff.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS!

Our Back-to-School Drives are always such a success thanks to all of you who come in and drop off donations throughout the summer. The families who benefit from your generosity are so grateful for the support as the kids go back to school confident and prepared for the year ahead. This year was no exception. I was blown away by the response to our annual drive that benefitted a local organization, The Breathing Room Foundation, who helps families going through cancer treatment in and around our area. This time, as we were wrapping up our own drive, we were approached by the Montgomery County Health and Human Services Department to help fill its need for school supplies too, so of course, we signed on to help however we could. I wasn't sure how much we'd be able to collect after just finishing our own school supply drive, but you all filled the bin they provided us in no time!

This district is something special and it warms my heart to know that the support for those who need it continues to be a top priority in this community. Thank you all for your incredible generosity.

VISITING COLLEGE SETTLEMENT SUMMER CAMP

I was happy to be invited to tour College Settlement Summer Camp and Outdoor School in Horsham this week. The program plays a vital role in giving young people safe spaces to learn, grow and build lifelong skills year round. Support is essential to ensure every child, regardless of background, has access to transformative outdoor experiences and the supportive community this camp provides. I will continue to work with my colleagues in the legislature to make sure that we are identifying as many resources as possible to invest in unique organizations like College Settlement Camp because doing so is an investment in our region’s future.

BLAIR MILL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT RIBBON-CUTTING

The Blair Mill Safety Improvement and Road Widening Project has been a long time in the making and we're finally cutting the ribbon on a job well done. While this particular project was not within my district borders, it is part of a larger multimodal transportation plan to improve roadways in our area that I have been a part of since taking office and am happy to celebrate that another phase of this extensive plan has been completed.
