General Legislative Session and Oath of Office

The 2025 General Legislative Session is officially underway! It’s an incredible honor to serve our district, and I’m committed to upholding the Constitution and working hard for our community. This session, we’ll address issues that impact Utah families, businesses, and communities, and I’m eager to hear your thoughts and priorities. Thank you for trusting me to represent you.

On Tuesday, I took the oath of office to support, obey, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Utah. I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to represent our district.

I am looking forward to working with my colleagues during the next seven weeks to pass meaningful legislation that will benefit all Utahns. Keep a look out for my weekly newsletters, where I will update you on all the important work being done for our community.

Celebrating Young Historians

I was very grateful to have the opportunity to recognize Utah’s delegation to the National History Day competition in Washington, D.C., last June. They were here this week as part of Utah History Day on the Hill.

Through this program, students conducted historical research, learned how to analyze primary and secondary sources and draw conclusions based on evidence. They created a final project that showcased their work at the completion.

After the floor session I had a chance to listen to a couple exceptional young scholars from my district present their award-winning project.

You're Invited: Family Night on the Hill!

Please join me on Thursday, February 4th for a family night on the Hill! This is a great opportunity for you to come tour the Capitol and share what issues matter most to you. I would love to see you and your family there!

Working with City Leaders

I had the privilege of meeting with city leaders at the League of Cities and Towns meeting this week. It’s always inspiring to collaborate with such dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to strengthen our communities. These discussions provide valuable opportunities to share ideas, address challenges, and find solutions that benefit the people we serve. I’m grateful for the chance to build these partnerships and work together to create a brighter future for Utah.

For Utah

Each year, the House Majority Caucus comes together to identify the most important policy challenges facing our state. This session, we will look to enact policies surrounding:

  • Bolstering our education system

  • Keeping daily life affordable for Utahns

  • Investing in our infrastructure

  • Ensuring the safety of our communities

  • Holding government agencies accountable

Click here to learn more about each of these crucial policy areas. We hope this policy roadmap reflects your voice and builds on Utah’s rock-solid foundation as the best-managed, most philanthropic, happiest, and freest state in the nation.

Public Safety and the Southern Border Crisis

The Biden administration’s inaction at the Southern border has strained our communities, public safety, and education systems. While supporting legal immigration, we must protect our communities. That’s why we’re introducing bills to hold criminals here illegally accountable, including stricter penalties for fentanyl trafficking, recruiting minors into gangs, driving without a license, and other crimes. By taking these steps, we are reinforcing our commitment to both the rule of law and the safety of all Utahns.

Higher Education

This year, the Utah Legislature is reimagining higher education to better serve students and the workforce. By streamlining operations, reducing administrative costs, and investing in high-demand programs, we aim to make education more affordable and impactful. Expanding career and technical education will equip students with practical skills for well-paying jobs while strengthening Utah’s economy. With a decline in college-age students on the horizon, now is the time to take bold action to ensure higher education remains a driver of growth and opportunity.
