Productivity in Harrisburg
|
We had an extremely productive week in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives this week. We voted to move over a dozen bills with bipartisan support. From liquor control standards to recognizing the Bangladeshi community. From expanding access to midwives to recognizing the legendary Civil Rights leader Bayard Rustin.
Most notably, we once again voted to send state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta’s Marriage Equality bill to the Senate to codify same sex marriage under Pennsylvania law. We once again will wait for the Senate to take action on this bill and send it to the governor’s desk for signing.
We voted, we moved the needle forward, now we implore the State Senate to do their part; the governor is waiting.

Report a Pothole on a State Road
|
As the weather warms and the snow continues to melt across Montgomery County, a familiar (and frustrating) sign of winter starts to appear — potholes.
The freeze-thaw cycle is tough on our roads, and repair crews will be working in the weeks ahead. We want to help make sure both state roads and municipal roads get the attention they need — and you can help.
Helpful information includes:
• The closest address
• The nearest intersection or cross street
• Which lane it’s in (if applicable)
• The direction of travel
• Any nearby landmarks
My office will compile the reports and share them directly with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) or the appropriate municipality to help prioritize repairs and keep our roads safe for everyone.
Thank you for being our eyes on the road — and please drive carefully as crews begin their work.

"Senior Assassin" Game is happening now in Abington
|
Senior Assassin has become a tradition in Abington Township. You may find yourself wondering, Why is that teenager wearing floaties or goggles? Well, it's all part of the game the senior class plays this time of year as a fun competition between classmates (notwithstanding the alarming name). But, the APD has some good points below to keep in mind so everyone stays safe while these kids make memories...
From Abington Township Police Department:
High school seniors are once again taking part in the "Senior Assassin" game.
For those unfamiliar, it’s a game where students “stalk” and “eliminate” each other using water guns, trying to be the last one standing.
While it may seem like harmless fun to students, it can cause serious concern to the public, especially when it involves sneaking around neighborhoods or hiding in unexpected places. Every year, we receive 911 calls from concerned residents who believe they’re witnessing suspicious or criminal activity… only to find out it’s part of this game.
- We do not condone the game, but we want to keep our community informed.
- To the students playing: Your safety and the safety of others is the priority.
If you do choose to play, PLEASE remember:
- Do not trespass—especially at night. If someone asks you to leave, do so immediately.
- Use brightly colored water toys. Avoid anything that could be mistaken for a real weapon!
- Do not wear masks or dark/camouflage clothing.
- If you encounter police, do not run or hide. Cooperate and explain what’s going on.
To our residents:
If you see something suspicious, don’t confront anyone yourself. Call 911, and let us handle it.
