Road repairs underway

Many residents have contacted my office about the condition of Bristol-Oxford Valley Road. In response, we worked closely with PennDOT, and long-needed repairs are now taking place between U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) and Business U.S. 1 (Lincoln Highway) in Bristol and Middletown townships. Crews will be on site through Friday, with lane closures and flagging in place during the day (9 a.m.–3 p.m.) and overnight (7 p.m.–5 a.m.), so drivers should plan for possible delays.

Additionally, just outside our area, Penn Valley Road between New Falls Road and Fallsington-Tullytown Road in Falls Township is also being repaved.

Hearing from residents plays an important role in helping us identify problem areas and work with PennDOT to address them. If you notice potholes or other road issues, please report them to my office here: https://www.pahouse.com/Davis/Form/?id=1883. We’ll make sure PennDOT is aware so repairs can be completed as quickly as possible.

The eyes have it: Resolution highlighting free diabetic retinopathy testing passes House

Living with diabetes comes with many challenges, but protecting your vision shouldn’t be one of them. I’m proud to share that free diabetic eye screenings will be offered across Pennsylvania on April 25.

These exams can detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of blindness among working-age adults. Catching it early can help prevent serious vision loss — and these free screenings make early detection easier than ever.

If you or someone you love has diabetes, I encourage you to take advantage of these no-cost screenings offered by dedicated ophthalmologists and medical professionals volunteering their time to serve our communities.

Participating locations include Geisinger, Penn State, Temple University Ophthalmology, UPMC, Wills Eye Hospital, and others. Learn more at https://www.willseye.org/diabetes-day/.

I joined Rep. Mary Isaacson and my colleagues in the House to adopt a resolution recognizing the importance of these preventative screenings and the incredible professionals making them possible. Together, we’re raising awareness and helping Pennsylvanians protect their sight.

Over $1.5 million secured for local schools and youth programs

  • I am pleased to announce that more than $1.5 million in state funding has been awarded to support local schools and community organizations serving children and families across the Bristol-Levittown area. I worked alongside state Senator Steve Santarsiero to help secure these grants through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency programs.

These investments will strengthen after-school learning, expand youth development opportunities, and help reduce violence by keeping young people engaged in safe, structured programs during critical hours.

BOOST (Building Opportunity through Out-of-School Time) Grants

    • Bristol Borough School District – $500,000
This funding will help launch a new after-school and summer program for about 170 students ages 12–18. It will give kids extra help with schoolwork, hands-on STEM and career activities, mentoring, wellness support, and prevention programs, along with a Junior and Youth Fire Cadet program run with local fire departments.
    • Bristol Township School District – $500,000
This districtwide program will support about 450 students each year with after-school tutoring, reading help, enrichment activities, and safe, supervised spaces. It will help students build stronger academic skills and give them more support and structure after school.
    • Bucks County Technical High School – $500,000
This funding will help expand the Exploratory Academy, giving about 130 students each year more opportunities after school, on weekends, and during the summer. Students will get tutoring, hands-on STEM activities, job and career exploration, and leadership opportunities through partnerships with local schools, organizations, and employers.

Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Grant

    • No Longer Bound – $81,277
This grant will support continued after-school and summer programming for approximately 75 youth, including academic support, enrichment activities, and evidence-based prevention programming such as “Too Good for Drugs,” helping to keep students engaged in safe and supportive environments.

The VIP program supports community-based violence prevention strategies, while BOOST funding expands structured out-of-school-time opportunities that keep students engaged, supported, and on a path toward success.

I am proud to have worked alongside Senator Santarsiero to secure these critical investments for our community. These funds will make a meaningful difference for students, families, and neighborhoods across our region.

If you have any questions about these grants or state resources available to your community, please do not hesitate to contact my office.

Governor asks PECO to withdrawal its rate increase request

Updating my previous emails regarding the grassroots efforts to oppose PECO’s proposed rate hikes, our voices are beginning to be heard. WHYY reports that Governor Josh Shapiro has been clear that PECO should withdraw its rate case and prioritize affordability for consumers over increased profits. I want to thank the Governor for his leadership in standing up for Pennsylvania consumers.

At a time when families across southeastern Pennsylvania are already facing rising costs, I appreciate his commitment to pushing back against these proposed increases and advocating for ratepayers.

Thank you to everyone who has signed my petition opposing this rate hike—your support is making a difference.

If you haven’t signed yet, add your name here:

Together, we can send a clear message that affordability and fairness must come first.

Student aid application deadline approaching

The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, which serves as the state agency for administering student aid for college and other postsecondary education, is encouraging students and families to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Completing the FAFSA is an important step in determining eligibility for federal financial assistance. Information provided on the form is also used by states and colleges to award their own financial aid packages, including grants, scholarships, and loans. Because some forms of aid are limited, applicants are advised to pay close attention to submission deadlines.

For first-time applicants attending a community college, business school, trade or technical school, hospital school of nursing, designated Pennsylvania open-admission institution, or a nontransferable two-year program, the application deadline is August 1. All other applicants are required to submit their FAFSA by May 1.

Additional details are available through PHEAA’s FAFSA resources online: https://www.pheaa.org/college-planning/fafsa.
