Dear Neighbors,

This Sunday, September 15th, the Lincoln Central Association (LCA) hosts its annual Evening in the Garden celebration. This event is a great way to celebrate the end of summer, local businesses and our beautiful neighborhood park! Alik will be representing our office, where you can ask questions, grab one of our popular “pet pickup” signs, or voice any comments or concerns. Hosted at Fire Station Park from 5 PM - 7 PM, we encourage you to take notice of several recent improvements to this park that our office and LCA partnered on - including new benches, lighting, and a gorgeous statue. The event is free and open to the public.

Furthermore, the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its first-ever Lincoln Park Salon & Spa Week! 20 Lincoln Park salons and spas are offering 25% selected services from September 16 – 27. Take this opportunity to support local wellness businesses - a growing and thriving industry in the 43rd Ward.

In public safety news, the 19th District Police are hosting an event on Tuesday, September 17th, from 10am-12pm, where certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to inspect your child's car seat. This will take place at 19th District, located at 850 W Addison, and appointments can be made by calling Wanda Vazquez or Sandra Molina at (312) 695-9155. The Chicago Police Department is also able to assist with proper car seat installation, so don't hesitate to reach out for help! See their flyer here for more details.

Finally, as a reminder, The Premier League (home to Manchester United, Liverpool, and other top soccer/football clubs in the world) is coming to Lincoln Park for their Mornings Live Fan Fest on September 21 & 22. The Fan Fest will include broadcasts of live Premier League matches as they occur in England, celebrity/athlete meet & greets, merch giveaways, Nike training areas, the Premier League Trophy, and more! While tickets are sold out, this is another great opportunity to showcase world wide the beauty of our park and ward!

As always, our office is open from Monday - Friday from 9 AM - 5 PM and Saturday from 10 AM - 12 PM. Feel free to call us at 773-348-9500 or click here to submit a question to our office directly.

See you in the neighborhood,

43rd Ward Public Service Office Staff

P.S. Our office joined neighbors and family of Richard Hunt in unveiling the ‘Honorary Richard Hunt Place’ Placard yesterday. More to come about his life, and the impact his art had on Chicago & the world in next week’s newsletter, but this Block Club article commemorates his life well.

Public Safety

Current Police Compstats

As our city government and safety leadership transition into the next Administration, crime, and safety remain top of mind for our community. Each week, the 18th and 19th District post Compstat numbers that reflect changes in indexes for key crimes. In an effort to keep residents informed on these trends, we will publish those weekly updates in the newsletter’s public safety section. As a reminder, these statistics represent 100% of the 18th and 19th Police Districts; accordingly, they represent an area much larger than our ward.

Upcoming CAPS Meetings

We work closely with the 43rd Ward’s local CAPS districts, which include the 18th (Near North) and 19th (Town Hall) Police Districts.

Our office is in frequent contact with officers from both of these districts and their local CAPS officers, who host a variety of community forums and events including beat meetings, informational settings, and expert panel discussions, as well as sending out community alerts when a pattern of crime is detected.

Beat Meetings are part of the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy and an excellent way to hear directly from CPD about your neighborhood. Meetings are held in the evenings every two months. Click here and find out your Police District and Beat number.

Tot classes meet twice weekly over the course of four 7 or 8 week sessions at the ICSJ North Park Campus in one of our self-contained and NAEYC accredited preschool classrooms. Tots and caregivers partake in circle time, play time, snack, story time, music, gross motor exploration, dancing, and Spanish language learning! They'll also have the opportunity to play outside in our early childhood playground when weather permits. Our tots learn and grow through the perfect balance of organized activities and self-directed play, all in a warm, welcoming, and safe environment prepared especially for them by our dedicated and fun loving Tot Program teacher, Laura Diab. Students must be 2 years old at the start of the session for which they are registered.
