Expanded Pennsylvanian Train Service to Begin in November

The roundtrip Amtrak Pennsylvanian service between New York City and Pittsburgh via Harrisburg will expand from once daily to twice daily, giving more Pennsylvanians access to modern, safe, reliable passenger rail.

The Pennsylvanian is a key passenger rail route connecting the citizens of the Keystone State from east to west, and, in conjunction with the Floridian, with Cleveland, Chicago, and beyond. Additionally, the Pittsburgh Line is one of the busiest and fastest links on Norfolk Southern's network, connecting with major terminals in Toledo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and the Lehigh Valley. In a typical year, more than half of Norfolk Southern's time-sensitive parcel and less-than-truckload shipments use the route at some point. The company's trains deliver or pick up freight at 140-plus locations along the corridor, serving more than 800 customers.

Amtrak anticipates beginning ticket sales for the additional Pennsylvanian train in October, ahead of the start of service.

Ongoing Commonwealth and federal investments in freight rail infrastructure and safety upgrades between Harrisburg and Pittsburgh are making passenger rail service expansion possible.

Blair Mill Safety Improvements and Widening Project Ribbon-Cutting

Phase II of the Blair Mill Safety Improvement and Road Widening Project has been a long time in the making, and it’s exciting to finally cut the ribbon on a job well done!

While this project falls outside my district, it is an important part of the larger multimodal transportation plan to improve roadways throughout our area—an effort I’ve been proud to support since taking office.

I’m grateful to everyone who helped bring this project to fruition, and I’m proud to celebrate another completed phase of this important work. Here’s to safer roads, improved connectivity, and continued progress for our community!

Our donation drive to support One House at a Time (OHAAT) Beds for Kids program was a great success! We had several boxes of pillows, bedding, children’s books, feminine hygiene products, and toothpaste and brushes dropped off to the office which were picked up by Beds for Kids staffers, Barry and Brandon. They were extremely thankful for the generosity of the community and will put all the items to good use.
