Recognizing the historic significance of our community

Recently, I had the opportunity to tour Historic Bolton Mansion c1687 here in my district. This historic site, which dates back to the Revolutionary War, is filled with stories from our nation's past.

I greatly appreciated Ralph, who kindly shared the estate’s story and guided us around the property. I’ll be sure to include more updates on Bolton Mansion and its fascinating history as we approach our nation’s 250th birthday!

Celebrating Flag Day

Last Friday, my staff joined volunteers at the 41st Annual Jesse E. Hill Flag Memorial in Falls Township, helping plant flags in honor of the more than 58,000 Americans who gave their lives during the Vietnam War.

Each flag represents a service member who made the ultimate sacrifice. On Flag Day, we remember their courage, honor their service, and commit ourselves to ensuring their legacy is never forgotten.

Around the Capitol

Last week, the House passed legislation, House Bill 2550, that establishes a tax credit for small businesses. Specifically, the bill helps businesses with 50 or fewer employees who contribute toward their employees’ health insurance premiums through a health reimbursement arrangement for insurance purchased through Pennie.

The legislation includes important safeguards related to the quality of health insurance purchased.

Small businesses are the heart of Pennsylvania's economy, and I'm honored to vote to support them.

HB2550 is now before the state Senate for consideration.

House Bill 2109, nicknamed the “Golden Girls Law,” which would prevent arbitrary limits on unrelated roommates, except where true health and safety standards apply, also passed the House.

These limits make housing harder to come by and prevent people – especially older people – from sharing space and saving money, while simultaneously opening up more places to live for other buyers and renters.

In voting for this legislation, my fellow legislators and I seek to expand housing options, help people afford to stay in their communities, and modernize housing policies.

HB2109 now moves to the state Senate for consideration.

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with some of the Pre-K graduates from Children of God Educational Services in Bristol.

Additionally, I'd like to offer a special thanks to Speaker Joanna McClinton for joining us during their visit. Access to voices like yours is so beneficial in developing these young minds!

It was wonderful to spend time with these bright young students and celebrate this special milestone with them. I greatly appreciate Owner and Director Valarie Hamilton for collaborating with us to make this day possible. Thank you all for coming!

Urgent Fraud Alert

EBT skimming is on the rise, and Pennsylvania families who rely on SNAP benefits are increasingly being targeted by scammers.

Criminals install hidden devices on card readers to steal EBT card information and drain benefits intended to help families put food on the table.

To protect yourself:

  • Check card readers for anything unusual before swiping
  • Change your PIN regularly
  • Never share your PIN or card number
  • Lock your EBT card when not in use through ConnectEBT
  • Monitor your account for suspicious transactions

If you believe your benefits have been stolen, contact your County Assistance Office immediately and report the theft to the Pennsylvania Office of State Inspector General at 1-800-932-0582.

Let's work together to protect Pennsylvanians from fraud and ensure benefits reach the people who need them most.
