Dear Neighbor,

I hope you had a chance to relax and reflect on the past year this holiday season. I’m grateful for my dedicated district office and Harrisburg staff, whose commitment to public service helps government work for the people. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to process over 700 property tax and rent rebates—both state and school district—putting money back in your pocket. The new season will open January 15!

Numbers tell part of the story:

In 2026, my legislative priorities include finally bringing a minimum wage increase across the finish line in Harrisburg. The House passed a bill in June that would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $12 per hour by 2028. We are still waiting for action from the Senate, where advocates like Sen. Art Haywood (D-4th) are championing the cause—he even visited Pottstown on New Year’s Eve for a press conference.

(From right) Johnny Corson, president of the Pottstown Chapter of the NAACP, joined Sen. Art Haywood for a press conference in Pottstown Borough on New Year’s Eve. Pennsylvania currently ranks last among states east of Ohio in ensuring that workers can earn a living wage.

Inflation means that $7.25 in 2009 dollars is really only worth about $4.84 today. It’s past due for a raise.

Green Light Go grant for Limerick Township

Thanks to new funding from PennDOT’s Green Light Go program, Limerick Township will be better equipped to monitor and improve traffic conditions along Ridge Pike.

The $247,000 in funding will help enhance roadway safety and reduce response time to traffic incidents in our area. Learn more.

Cold snap continues – Look out for neighbors

Temperatures remain dangerously low to begin 2026. Remember to check on neighbors with physical limitations, when possible.

When Montgomery County declares a Code Blue emergency, which has been announced through Jan. 8, temporary shelters (such as pre-approved churches) are able to open. If you encounter someone without a warm place to sleep, please give them the Your Way Home helpline - (610) 278-3522.

Volunteer opportunities are available at regional Code Blue warming centers.

Have a nice weekend,

Joe
