Launching a new bill package to expand clean energy, strengthen workforce
|
I joined members of the Blue-Green Coalition to unveil a new bill package designed to accelerate Pennsylvania’s clean energy production and create family sustaining jobs in growing energy sectors.
I also discussed House Bill 1260, also known as Solar for Warehouses, which passed the House in March.

Recapping big bills passed in the House
|
This month, my House colleagues and I passed important bills that will help our neighbors and improve communities:
- We passed the governor’s budget proposal with investments in education, health care, public safety, affordable housing, mass transit and more, without raising taxes (HB 2400). The final budget still has to be worked out with the Senate.
- We’re holding data centers accountable by requiring them to disclose the nature of their operations and report energy and water usage to the state (HB 2150), providing communities with an optional approach on zoning for data centers (HB 2151), and protecting natural resources by requiring large data centers to disclose and plan for water usage (HB 2246).
- We’re eliminating the difficult choice between work and family by granting eligible employees up to 12 weeks of partial wage replacement for personal or family situations (HB 200).
- We’re ensuring school counselors aren’t pulled away from their needed counseling duties (HB 2218).
- We’re strengthening consumer protections by updating the law requiring utilities to provide customer assistance programs to people who fall behind on payments (HB 2333).
- We’re modernizing identification by allowing digital driver’s licenses and ID cards that residents can securely store on their phones, making it easier to verify identity in everyday situations (HB 1970).
- We’re standing up for fairness by prohibiting discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations based on race, color, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ensuring equal access for all Pennsylvanians (HB 2103).

$500,000 awarded to Muhlenberg School District!
|
I’m proud to share that I was able to help secure $500,000 for the Muhlenberg School District.
The funding, courtesy of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, will be used to expand the district’s comprehensive K–12 Summer Bridge initiative, which is designed to address academic proficiency gaps and the effects of high poverty on student learning.

A primer for Primary Elections
|
As we look ahead to the 2026 Primary Election on Tuesday, May 19, I want to share some important election deadlines to keep in mind. Now is a great time to make a plan to vote!
- Make sure you’re registered
- Not sure if you’re registered to vote in your current neighborhood, or haven’t voted in a while? You should check your voter status now. If you’re not registered, you have until May 4 to register if you want to vote in the Primary on May 19.
- If you recently changed your name, address, or party affiliation, you will need to update your voter registration information: vote.pa.gov/Register
- Request a mail-in ballot if you need one
- Mail-in ballot applications must be submitted no later than May 12.
- If you won’t be able to make it to the polls between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, you can request a mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballots are available to everyone, for any reason.
- Mail your ballot!
- Once you receive your mail-in ballot, make sure you fill it out and mail it or drop it off before May 19!
- Or, head to the polls!
- If you can vote in person and have not already voted by mail, head to your polling place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19 to cast your vote.

Celebrating Black Maternal Health week in Harrisburg

This month, we celebrated Black Maternal Health Week at the Capitol! Multiple events were held dedicated to raising awareness and advancing education around maternal health disparities in communities of color.
It's an important reminder that we must continue working to ensure healthier outcomes for moms and babies in Pennsylvania.

Visiting Mohegan Pennsylvania
|
I joined my fellow House Gaming Oversight Committee colleagues and members of the Agriculture Committee for a tour of Mohegan Pennsylvania in Wilkes-Barre to learn more about the harness racing industry and the jobs and economic activity it supports in our region.
I remain committed to ensuring that our committee’s work reflects the needs of workers, small businesses, and communities that rely on this industry.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my Shred Event!
|
We have another successful Shred Event in the books! It was great to see and talk to everyone who came to the event.
Shoutout to my amazing team and the Muhlenberg School District for allowing us to hold this event on their grounds.
If you missed this event, no worries, we’ll host another one on October 10th, so keep an eye out for that!

Honoring the life of Strat Marmarou
|
Earlier this month, Rep. Cepeda-Freytiz and I presented a citation to the family of Strat Marmarou.
Strat was truly larger than life— someone who served his community with strength, character, and heart. His impact on our area won’t be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visiting Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center
|
I welcomed fellow legislators and stakeholders to the Reading Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center, where I previously taught before serving in the House. We focused on how smart state investment in CTE can strengthen our workforce and better prepare students for in-demand careers.
Thank you to the students and instructors who shared their insights. It was amazing to see my former students continuing to do amazing things!

Congratulations to Keegan Bandholz!
|
I’d like to send a huge congratulations to new Eagle Scout Keegan Bandholz of Troop 155! For Keegan’s Eagle project, he gave back to the community by preparing old mailboxes and setting them in various areas across Muhlenberg Township to collect old flags for proper disposal.
I was honored to present him with a House citation to celebrate this achievement. Congratulations Keegan!
