Press Conference Supporting HB 739 – Full Practice Authority for Nurse Practitioners
|
On Monday, a press conference was held to support my co-sponsored bill with Rep. Tarik Kahn - HB 739 Full Practice Authority for Nurse Practitioners.
This is commonsense legislation that will help all Pennsylvanians with accessing quality and affordable healthcare close to home.
Too many Pennsylvania residents have faced long wait times, provider shortages, and unnecessary barriers to accessing primary and mental health care — especially in rural and underserved communities.
Full Practice Authority would allow these highly trained nurse practitioners to provide the care they are already educated and nationally certified to deliver, without unnecessary administrative delays.
More than half the states in this country, 27 and Washington D.C. to be exact, have already adopted full practice authority. Study after study has shown improved access to care, particularly in rural communities, with no reduction in quality or patient safety.
This legislation is about access. It is about efficiency. And most importantly, it is about helping ALL Pennsylvanians by providing them with quality and timely healthcare.
I urge support for HB 739 - Full Practice Authority in Pennsylvania - so we can expand access to quality healthcare to all our communities.
