Dear Inquirer,

Two weeks ago, we delivered another major win for election integrity in Michigan.

The House adopted a resolution urging Congress to pass the SAVE Act, requiring documented proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. This is a priority for me, and this a priority for the President. That’s why the White House asked me to highlight this during my visit to Washington, D.C. last week.

This should not be controversial. Only American citizens should vote in American elections.

Protecting the integrity of our elections is not a partisan issue. It’s about making sure every legal vote counts and that Michigan families can trust the outcome.

We also passed strong, commonsense legislation to block foreign influence in our elections. House Bills 5197 and 5198 close dangerous loopholes by banning foreign funding of ballot proposals and requiring full transparency from anyone helping to fund or support election administration.

Michigan elections should be decided by Michigan voters, not by foreign money operating behind the scenes.

Protecting the vote is a top priority. We are going to safeguard our citizens’ votes, strengthen election security, and keep foreign interests out of our democratic process.

The people of Michigan deserve elections that are secure, transparent, and American. House Republicans are leading to make sure that happens.

Sincerely,

Matt Hall

Speaker of the House
