Back-to-School Fair Success!

Video

Thank you to everyone who came out to Connell Park on Wednesday night for our Back-to-School Fair! We were able to setup so many students with a backpack and the supplies they need for a successful start to the new school year! It was also great meeting with so many families and helping to connect them with information and resources available in our community.

Music in the Park on Wednesday!

Come get your groove on at our next Music in the Park night this Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Elmwood Park with the Kevin James Band starting at 6 p.m.! Our event in July was so much fun and a great opportunity to catch up with the community. Don’t miss out on this free community gathering!

Keep an Eye on Your Mailbox!

My Summer newsletter was mailed this week and should be arriving in your mailbox soon! Please take a few minutes to read through the highlights of our new state budget, good things coming to our communities, and all about the work I’m doing in Harrisburg for YOU. If you don’t get one, please contact my office to make sure you’re on our mailing list so we can keep you up-to-date on what’s happening in state government and resources that are available for you!

Ensure You Can Make Your Voice Heard

The general election for 2026 is right around the corner! Now is the time to make sure that you are registered to vote in PA and your voter information is correct (such as your street address, if you moved recently), find where your polling place is located, or to apply for a mail-in ballot. Monday, Oct. 19 is the deadline to register for this important election! Join the conversation and make sure your voice is heard at the polls for you, your family, and your community.

New SEPTA Schedules

Beginning on Aug. 23 and 24, SEPTA will begin rolling out their new bus network.

Three highlighted changes that may affect your travel in our area are:

  • Route 76 now provides service between North and South Philadelphia.
  • Route 45 extends service to the Navy Yard seven days a week.
  • Route 79 extends service between South and West Philadelphia.

If you have students in your household who use SEPTA to get to school, visit Phase 1 School Route Change Guide to learn how their route will be impacted.

For complete information on these Phase 1 changes, visit the dedicated New Bus Network Phase 1 changes page.

You can also use the New Bus Network Trip Planner to see what your journey will look like after Phase 1 is implemented on Aug. 23 and 24. Try planning your trip to work, school, errands or entertainment to get familiar with what’s changing.

Contact my office if we can be of assistance, and a reminder that we can also help with SEPTA Senior Key IDs.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Summer Walking Tour

Keep an eye out for Team 185 as my staff and I will be knocking on doors in our communities all summer long to make sure that you know about the information and resources that we can provide. It’s also a good chance to interact with our neighbors so you can let us know what changes and improvements are needed in your neighborhood!

Check out the graphic above for the starting location, date, and time for when we’ll be near your community!

PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Does the State Owe You Money?

Are you one of the nearly 30,000 people in our area who has Unclaimed Property in the PA Treasury Vault? It could be anything from lost paychecks, to jewelry, to forgotten savings bonds, or so much more. Our office is reaching out to our neighbors who have something valuable in the vault, but you can search your name on their website by clicking above to find out on your own and make your claim faster!

State Grants Available

My office helps city officials and local organizations connect to state grants available to help them do their important work to improve our communities and the lives of residents. You can find a list of state grant programs that are currently open for application on my website. We update this list as new programs come online so check back often.
