Dear Neighbors,
As many of you may have noticed the Trebes Park renovation has begun! While our office and other local stakeholders were not made aware of the project start date by the Park District, we are pleased to have the project underway. Due to this lack of notice, we are working with Oscar Mayer School to assist in finding space for previously planned events. Through the leadership of the Trebes Park Advisory Council (TPAC) (website will include construction updates beginning later today), specifically TPAC President Scott Kaeser, community discussions related to this renovation began in 2019. Funded through grants from the city, state and county, the result will be a revitalization of a park used and loved by many in the neighborhood.
The key aspects of the renovation include:
-
Re-leveling the soil and fixing the drainage tie-ins to the city sewer line;
-
An artificial turf infield and re-sodded grass outfield;
-
Benches and tables for congregating in the southeast corner;
-
Improved baseball dugouts and team seating;
-
A concrete path / walking track around the perimeter of the park;
-
Improved safety lighting;
-
Planters with local flora;
-
A water bottle filler; and
-
Many other smaller updates and improvements.
As of now, the Park District anticipates that the work will be broken up into two phases for completion in Spring 2025. The first phase will include demolition/excavation, concrete work, plumbing/electrical work, turf installation (weather dependent), and plaza construction. The second phase will include landscape restoration (weather dependent) and other installations and aesthetic improvements.
