We Won State Budget Funding for Survivors

I am incredibly proud of the work we did to double funding for rape crisis centers in the 2026-27 state budget. Thank you to everyone who stood together in refusing to accept inadequate funding for these critical services. We fought for survivors, and we won.

Addressing Pennsylvania’s Housing Crisis
|
On Tuesday, I joined the House Majority Policy Committee in Centre County for a roundtable discussion on Pennsylvania’s housing crisis and the unique challenges facing rural communities. From aging housing stock to rising construction costs and a lack of attainable options, communities across our commonwealth are feeling the pressure.
We heard from housing experts and community leaders about the need to build and preserve more homes, invest in home repairs and infrastructure, and make it easier for working Pennsylvanians to afford a safe place to live. I’ll continue working with my colleagues to advance practical solutions that expand housing opportunities for everyone.

I recently welcomed several of my legislative colleagues to ALCOSAN for a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility and the incredible work being done to protect public health and improve water quality for our region. Seeing the work up close is essential for lawmakers developing policy on clean water infrastructure.
As chair of the ALCOSAN board, I am grateful for the opportunity to help lead this work and show fellow legislators why continued investment in our water infrastructure is critical to the health and future of communities across Pennsylvania.

Pittsburgh Public Schools is helping families get ready for the new school year with its Back to School event on Monday, August 17.
Families may stop by in-person at Acrisure Stadium, FedEx Great Hall, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for free stuffed backpacks, food, and books while supplies last. Families may also participate in the drive-thru option at Gold Lot A, 792 W. General Robinson St. Registration is required for the in-person event. Registration is not required for the drive-thru option.
