Dear Neighbor,
Welcome back to my email newsletter. I hope that the holidays and turn of a new year have recharged you. The challenges we're facing and fights we are waging across the country and in Pennsylvania did not take a break and neither have I.
I have been working on a range of issues related to improving health care access, strengthening Pennsylvania's economic climate, moving my Food Processing Residual legislation forward, and protecting our fundamental rights as Americans during this particularly tumultuous time in our nation.
Right now we need people with courage to stand up for those who are most vulnerable. We need leaders who will protect civil liberties. I'm grateful for those in Chester County and beyond who are working together to ensure that our neighbors are cared for, that the dignity and rights of our neighbors are protected, and that our communities are safe.
In the meantime, we also have an actual storm brewing across the country that lands in Pennsylvania this weekend. You can get updates at www.weather.gov and please plan to be winter storm ready. Look out for your neighbors, friends and loved ones who need extra help in a storm.
As for our other, figurative storms - no matter what they try to say, Pennsylvanians, Americans - and just plain people - are always stronger together.

Holding ICE accountable in PA
This week, three of my House colleagues and I introduced a plan to empower the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission to receive, document, and refer complaints from the public regarding civil-liberties violations by federal ICE agents and law enforcement agencies working with ICE.
Make no mistake, ICE's callous and undisciplined enforcement practices demonstrate a failure of leadership at the highest level. These raids are not making our communities safer, nor do they seem designed to accomplish that goal. The tactics employed by ICE officials are proving to be inhumane, ineffective and unconstitutional. We cannot stand by. We must hold accountable those who violate both their duty to the constitution and the rights of our community members.
I look forward to reporting back on progress made reining in ICE in PA. In the meantime, if you need to report civil unrest involving ICE, please contact the ACLU of Pennsylvania to report rights violations.

The Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians ages 65 and older, widows and widowers ages 50 and older, and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
This program has made it easier for seniors in Chester County to stay in their homes and afford groceries, medicine, and so much more.
Please call or stop by my office to find out if you’re eligible and get assistance applying for your rebate. We’d be glad to answer any questions and set up an appointment to help you complete your application online!
