Thank you to all who joined the community screening of PBS’s Human Footprint and to Series Director Nate Dappen and moderator Codi Hale for leading a powerful conversation on pollinators, climate, and local action. San Diego’s environmental community showed up with passion and purpose, and together, we are building a more resilient future.

RECESS REDEFINED

Every August, I remind our community that legislative recess is not a vacation, but an opportunity to be out of Council Chambers, in the district, and crafting policy for the next session. August may seem quieter from the outside, but the work continues behind the scenes. Here is a little refresher on how Team LaCava uses this time.

What happens during legislative recess?
•    Council and Committee meetings are adjourned
•    City Hall and all City departments remain open
•    Councilmembers and staff make site visits in the district and craft legislation

What is Team LaCava working on during this Legislative Recess?
•    Advancing legislative priorities for September introduction
•    Following up on infrastructure improvements and timelines
•    Addressing long-standing community needs
•    Speaking with YOU, our District 1 constituents

Rest and recuperation?
•    Legislative Recess is not a vacation
•    Team LaCava will continue to respond to your emails, calls, and inquiries

AN EXCEPTIONAL SUPERINTENDENT

City Council honored Dr. Holly McClurg with a proclamation and gratitude for 16 years of exceptional service as Superintendent of the Del Mar Union School District. As a steadfast champion of high-quality teaching, joyful learning, and the belief that every child deserves love and support on their path to success, we thank her for her leadership in shaping the lives of District 1 students.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
