Montgomery County Food Donation Drive

The federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025, has halted funding for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits starting in November, affecting nearly 63,000 residents in Montgomery County.

In Pennsylvania, SNAP payments were paused beginning October 16.

Governor Josh Shapiro recently announced that his Administration is taking quick action to immediately issue November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to Pennsylvanians who have missed a payment, consistent with a federal court’s ruling requiring the Trump Administration to release 100 percent of SNAP funds for all recipients nationwide. November 2025 SNAP benefits began being issued last Friday, and benefits should continue to be loaded onto EBT cards over the next several days.

SNAP benefits are issued to eligible Pennsylvanians over the first 10 business days of the month. As of last Friday evening, the Shapiro Administration expected to have issued benefits to Pennsylvanians who would usually receive them during the first seven days of the month.

Since the Shapiro Administration awarded these November benefits, the US Supreme Court has temporarily paused orders requiring the federal government to fully fund SNAP. This most recent pause makes it unclear how benefits will be affected moving forward.

The Montgomery County Commissioners announced $500,000 in emergency funding for local food pantries to help residents affected by the suspension of federal SNAP benefits.

Last week, I stood with my colleagues and local leaders to celebrate a major step forward in our fight against hunger. This funding is a lifeline for many, but it is only the beginning.

In addition to the $500,000 investment, the county has launched an emergency food drive. Suggested donations include cereal, shelf stable milk, oatmeal, complete pancake mix, syrup, canned chicken or tuna, canned pasta, pasta, spaghetti sauce, soups, stews, and any shelf-stable meal. Please see the flyer for donation drop-off locations and additional information.

Montgomery County has launched a website for those who need support and those who have the resources to help their community. Visit SNAP Funding Paused | Montgomery County, PA - Official Website for more information.

For local food bank donations, see the flyer below for local food banks

in our district.

We’re all in this together. Let’s work to help our neighbors in need.

Renter's Rights Event

Along with the Housing Equality Center and the Montgomery County Prothonotary's Office, we held a successful Renter's Rights Informational Session at the Upper Moreland Library. It was inspiring to see so many tenants, advocates, and community members together in one space - united by the belief that everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable home.

Thank you to all for making it such a successful event!

Veterans Day Remembrance

As a veteran myself, I take great pride in honoring fellow veterans who served our country and proudly defended our freedoms.

Last Friday, I attended the Veterans Flag-Raising Ceremony in Norristown at the Montgomery County Courthouse. Held by the Montgomery County Commissioners and the Montgomery County Veterans Task Force, this flag-raising paid tribute to all veterans who served our country here and abroad.

Today, I attended the Wesley Enhanced Living’s Veterans Day breakfast. I was able to visit with veterans living at Wesley Enhanced Living and sit and share our stories of service. What a wonderful event. Thank you, to all veterans, for your service.

Holiday Open House

Please join me and my staff on Friday, December 5th from 6:30 pm-7:30 pm for our Annual Holiday Open House. Please stop by after the Hatboro Christmas Tree Lighting – which will take place at 6 pm at the Union Library of Hatboro - and join us for conversation and light refreshments. Meet my staff and learn how we can help!

Pet Meet & Greet Event

Our office will be hosting our Pet Meet & Greet event on Sunday, December 7th, which will include cats and dogs from Hart 2 Heart Animal Rescue and Lucky Pups Dog Rescue. This is your chance to meet a furry friend up for adoption and begin the application process – No pets will be adopted on the day of the event.

Leading up to the event, we are accepting donations for our Pet Donation Drive, which will be given to the organizations on the day of the event to help keep their adoption sites filled with necessary items to run the shelters. Please see the flyer for requested donations.

Thank you in advance for any donations you can spare!

65th Annual Hatboro Holiday Parade

Mark your calendar today for the 65th Annual Hatboro Holiday Parade on Sunday, November 23rd from 2 pm-4 pm. This year’s theme is “A Small Town With a Big Heart” and, as always, the Philly Phanatic will lead off the parade! Children are encouraged to bring their letters for Santa which will be collected by Santa’s Helpers from the USPS at the end of the parade. I will be there with some of my staffers to ring in the Holiday Season. This is one event you won’t want to miss - fun for the whole family!
