In this week’s e-newsletter, I’m happy to share details regarding our upcoming historic House Session in Philadelphia, State Educational tools and programs, public health updates, and more.

Additionally, my office will be hosting our Free Community Shredding Event this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information, read below.

This Saturday, September 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 608 S. Olds Blvd., Fairless Hills, safely dispose of your confidential documents at my Free Community Shredding Event.

ADDITIONALLY: We will be collecting non-perishable food donations, such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, and canned soups, to help provide essential food items to those in need.

On Wednesday, Sept. 9, the PA House will meet in Congress Hall for a historic session commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the 250th anniversary of the Pennsylvania Constitution. Congress Hall is part of the Independence Mall in Independence National Historical Park in Old City, Philadelphia.

Some of the U.S. Constitution’s most enduring principles were inspired by Pennsylvania’s Constitution, adopted in September 1776. I’m honored to take part in this historic legislative session commemorating America’s 250th birthday and celebrating Pennsylvania’s lasting contribution to our nation’s founding. The Pennsylvania Treasury has launched a new online Financial Education Hub, providing a centralized collection of resources to help you improve your financial literacy and make informed financial decisions.

The hub covers topics including budgeting, saving, retirement planning, digital assets and cryptocurrency, along with information about Treasury programs such as PA 529, Keystone Scholars, and PA ABLE. Resources are tailored to groups including students, teachers, active-duty military members, veterans, and older adults.

PHEAA will be hosting statewide webinars scheduled from September through November. These sessions will cover key topics including searches for scholarships, preparing to file for the 2027-28 FAFSA and more! Use the QR codes to register for each webinar.

We are hosting our annual Senior Expo on Monday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westaby Hall in Fairless Hills. My staff will be there, along with a wide variety of vendors. You can also receive your flu vaccine!

The Pennsylvania State Police is expanding opportunities for students and aspiring law enforcement professionals through partnerships with colleges and universities. Through the Academy Internship Program, eligible college seniors can complete their final semester at the PSP Academy, earn academic credits, and begin their careers as a trooper after successfully completing cadet training.

Interested students must apply by Sept. 30.

The 2026-27 state budget provides funding for approximately 380 new cadet appointments, reinforcing efforts to strengthen public safety and recruit the next generation of troopers.

As we approach the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, here are some key dates to remember:

• Monday, Oct. 19 – Last day to register to vote.
• Tuesday, Oct. 27– Last day to apply for an absentee or mail-in ballot.
• Tuesday, Nov. 3 – Election Day: Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters must be in line by 8 p.m. to cast their ballot. Mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by your county election office by 8 p.m.
