Dear Inquirer,

San Diego City Councilmember Raul Campillo here: happy Friday!

Welcome to this week's Raul Roundup, your go-to source for the latest news, updates, and insights from our community and City Hall. Here’s what’s been going on this week:

Giving Back to Those In Need: Thanksgiving Meals

This past Friday was one of my favorite days of the year: the annual time where we get together with incredible community partners to deliver Thanksgiving meals to those in need. The smiles on folks’ faces are truly what this job is all about.

Grateful for the collaboration and generosity of San Diego Carpenters Local 619, the Police Officers Association, Bayside Community Center, and US Bank in providing the turkeys, pies, produce, and non-perishables respectively for over 125 Linda Vista families.

Another Great Bulk Trash Drop Off!

Thank you to the many residents who stopped by last Saturday to get rid of your bulk trash! Given that a trip to the Miramar Landfill can cost families hundreds in fees, my team and I are so happy to put these events on for you all in order to save you cash when budgets are already tight. Until the next one -- we'll be sure to keep you updated when we have another event scheduled!

Teaser: Balboa Park Video

Still fired up about the Balboa Park parking fees? Me too. That's why my team and I took to the park to speak to residents about how they're feeling about all this. Spoiler alert: not great. Full video to come next week on my social media channels!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving weekend. I am so grateful for my family, my team, and you, my constituents -- and I hope you take some time to reflect on what you are thankful for this year, too.

And as tomorrow we celebrate Small Business Saturday, it's a perfect time to lift up the District 7 business that we love. I was so thrilled to see this story in the news this week: Tierrasanta restaurant reaches 50th year after community steps in to save it (10 News). If that sounds familiar, it's because we shouted them out in a past Raul Roundup!

So awesome that folks came together to keep Gaetano's open -- let's continue to channel that spirit tomorrow and every day.

This email series is called the 'Raul Roundup.’ I'll be sending along a few things I'm seeing online, reading about in the news, and doing as your City Councilmember. These fun, informative, and short emails will arrive straight to your inbox every Friday.

Hope you have a great weekend.

All the best,

Raul
