Dear Neighbor,

The promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness means that every family should have a fair opportunity to build a good life. When childcare becomes unaffordable, it doesn’t just affect parents, it affects our workforce, our economy, and the strength of our communities.

That’s why I’m leading legislation to make childcare more affordable by updating Pennsylvania’s outdated childcare tax credit. This week, I also introduced legislation to protect victims of online harassment, worked to strengthen consumer protections, responded to medical emergencies, stood in solidarity against hate, and met with community partners to improve pedestrian safety.

I’m heading back to Harrisburg on Saturday afternoon to continue the work of passing a responsible state budget that lowers costs and invests in our future.

👶🏼Helping Parents Afford Childcare

If you’re struggling to afford childcare, you’re not alone. The system hasn’t kept up. Every child deserves a safe, nurturing place to learn and grow, and every parent deserves to know they can afford that care.

Pennsylvania’s Child and Dependent Care Enhancement Tax Credit is based on outdated childcare costs. Right now, Pennsylvania only allows families to claim up to $3,000 in childcare expenses for one child or $6,000 for two or more—even though many families now pay nearly $15,000 a year for infant care. That means parents often can’t claim what they actually spend, leaving them with tax relief that falls far short of the real cost of raising a child.

That’s why I’m partnering with Rep. La’Tasha Mayes. Our bill removes the cap on eligible childcare expenses for families with children under age seven, so parents can claim what they actually pay and keep more of their hard-earned money.

Affordable childcare helps parents stay in the workforce, strengthens our economy, and makes Pennsylvania a better place to live and raise a family. It’s time our tax code caught up with reality.

🛡️Protecting You from Malicious Doxxing

Your home address and personal information should never be used as a weapon against you.

As more of our lives move online, malicious doxxing has become an increasing threat. Doxxing is when someone posts another person’s private personal information online to intimidate, threaten, or harass them.

I’m introducing legislation to give victims of malicious doxxing the ability to hold perpetrators accountable, while protecting free speech and legitimate public discourse.

No one should have to choose between speaking their mind and protecting their safety.

📉Safeguarding Prediction Markets from Insider Trading

I recently joined Larry Kaspar on PCN to discuss my legislation to strengthen consumer protections for online prediction markets.

My bill would crack down on insider trading and market manipulation, keep minors off these platforms, prohibit markets involving high school sports or an individual's health or death, and give the Pennsylvania Attorney General the tools to enforce these protections.

🚑Serving at America 250

As Philadelphia celebrated America's 250th anniversary, I volunteered in the medical tent on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, helping people experiencing heat-related illnesses and other medical emergencies.

I always love serving alongside the Philadelphia Fire Department's paramedics and EMTs, the Medical Reserve Corps, and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health to care for residents and visitors during some of our city's biggest events.

🕊️Standing Together Against Hate

I was deeply disturbed to learn of the apparent arson attempt at the Northeast Philadelphia Islamic Center on Sunday.

Every person deserves to feel safe in their house of worship. There is no place for Islamophobia or hatred of any kind in our commonwealth.

I'm grateful no one was injured, and I urge anyone with information to contact the Philadelphia Police Department so those responsible can be held accountable. On Wednesday, my office joined other elected officials and their offices in solidarity with the congregants.

We must continue standing together across all faiths and backgrounds to ensure every Pennsylvanian can worship in peace and without fear.

🚶🏽Protecting Pedestrians in East Falls

I recently met with the Philadelphia Streets Department, the East Falls Development Corporation, and members of the Bicycle Coalition for a walking tour of Ridge Avenue, focusing on the area around Midvale Avenue and the East Falls Farmers Market to identify pedestrian safety improvements.

Making this corridor safer will help protect our neighbors, support local businesses, and encourage more people to walk, shop, and enjoy everything our community has to offer.

🎒Donate to Local Students

Help local students start the school year ready to learn!

The Philadelphia Police Department's 5th District is collecting school supplies for Northern Children's Services' Back-to-School Event. Donations of notebooks, pencils, folders, backpacks, and other school essentials can be dropped off at the 5th District station at 6666 Ridge Avenue (Ridge and Cinnaminson Street).

Finally, are you looking for a productive way to keep your teen busy this summer? Philadelphia offers paid jobs, internships, and career training opportunities for young people ages 12–24. Programs like Career Connected Learning PHL (C2L-PHL), the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN), and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation help young people earn a paycheck, build valuable job skills, explore future careers, and strengthen their résumés.

I'm spending a few days in Washington, D.C., with the Future Caucus, collaborating with lawmakers from across the country to develop bipartisan, forward-looking solutions that can benefit Pennsylvania. In fact, my legislation requiring disclosure of AI-generated campaign ads was shaped in part by conversations at previous Future Caucus meetings.
