Dear Neighbors,

With Tax Day quickly approaching, we want to remind everyone of two first time and historic tax credits we've passed to help qualified Pennsylvanians get relief while filing their tax returns during these tough economic times.

Pennsylvania’s Child and Dependent Care Enhancement Tax Credit was expanded under a law passed by the PA state legislature.

This credit provides financial relief to taxpayers with child or dependent care expenses. It matches 100% of the federal Child Care Tax Credit, offering a maximum of $1,050 for one child or dependent and $2,100 for two or more, with minimums of $600 and $1,200, respectively. Eligibility includes expenses for children under 13, spouses, or other dependents who are physically or mentally incapable of self-care. The credit is refundable, meaning taxpayers can receive a full refund after meeting their tax obligations.

To claim the credit, taxpayers must file a PA-40 form along with PA Schedule DC, Federal Form 2441, and 1040 Schedule 3. The PA Department of Revenue encourages filing through myPATH, Pennsylvania’s free online tax filing system.

The Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit (WPTC) was created in the 2025-26 budget and signed by the Governor last year.

Modeled after the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the WPTC can provide up to $805 in tax relief. The credit is expected to deliver $193 million in tax savings to approximately 940,000 Pennsylvanians this year. Anyone who qualifies for the federal EITC automatically qualifies for the state credit, helping to put more money back into the pockets of working Pennsylvanians. My colleagues and I in the PA House have been working for YOU! These tax credits are for hardworking Pennsylvanians who could use some relief to help pay for groceries, gas, rent, or other living expenses.
