Student Safety and Violence Education (SAVE) Act

Recently, I introduced the Student Safety and Violence Education (SAVE) Act, with support from Sandy Hook Promise. This legislation would require annual instruction in schools on suicide prevention, violence prevention, and social isolation, giving students and staff the tools they need to recognize warning signs and intervene early.

 

Every student deserves to feel safe, supported, and connected at school. I hope lawmakers on both sides of the aisle will join me in supporting this important legislation.

The Outstanding Citizens Award goes to...

I'd like to take a moment to celebrate two outstanding citizens in our community.

 

Casey Bauer has served in many service-oriented roles throughout her career, including a successful career as a social worker and her role as Director of Volunteers and Guests at the Warminster Food Bank, among others.

 

Additionally, George Myers, a resident of our community since 1975, has demonstrated a lifelong dedication to the U.S. Navy Seabees and has continued to give back to his community through his volunteer service.

 

Thank you to these exemplary citizens for their dedication and service to our community!
 

Celebrating 100 years with Anna Nocek

This past weekend, I had the honor of visiting Revelle Senior Living to present a Pennsylvania House Citation to Anna Nocek in celebration of her 100th birthday!

It was a pleasure spending time with Anna and her daughter, Donna, hearing their stories and learning from Anna’s incredible wisdom. 100 years is a truly remarkable milestone, and I’m grateful we had the opportunity to help celebrate it with her.

State Police Recruiting New Troopers: Apply by July 31

If you're looking for a career in law enforcement, the Pennsylvania State Police is accepting applications for the current cadet hiring cycle through July 31.

 

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and be at least 20 years old at the time of application. Cadet training lasts approximately 28 weeks, and upon successful completion of the academy, graduates are promoted to the rank of state trooper.

 

As a former police officer, I can attest to the honor and purpose that come with serving in law enforcement, and I encourage qualified individuals to consider applying.

New Substance Abuse Resource for Families

The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs recently launched a new website designed to support families of loved ones experiencing substance use disorder. Caregiver Connection is a resource that helps family members find support for themselves as they navigate their loved one’s treatment and recovery journey.

 

If you are supporting someone in recovery or caring for someone experiencing substance use disorder, Caregiver Connection can help you find local and online support groups, connect with others in your community who are on a similar journey, and learn how to access county drug and alcohol offices, free Narcan, and other valuable resources.

Remote Office Hours

To make our office’s constituent services as accessible as possible, I have established remote office hours at local township buildings throughout our legislative district.

 

We will be at the following locations from 10:00AM – 12:00PM on the days indicated:

  • Warminster Township Building: First Tuesday of every month; next is August 4.
  • Warminster Heights: First Friday of every month; next is August 7.
  • Ivyland Borough: Second Tuesday of every month; next is August 11.
  • New Britain Township Building: Second Wednesday of every month; next is August 12.
  • Warrington Township Building: Third Tuesday every month; next is August 18.
  • Warminster Library: Third Wednesday of every month; next is August 19.
 

Specialty Office Hours

To help focus on specific needs, my staff and I have established specialty hours when outside experts come in to guide our residents. An appointment is required for these hours. Please call 215-323-6997 to schedule.

  • Veterans Services: 9:30AM to 3:30PM on the second Monday of every month; next session is August 10.
  • Advance Care Planning: First Wednesday of every month; next is August 5.
