Protect Your Identity by Shredding on SATURDAY
|
Shredding your outdated and unneeded paperwork is the best way to protect your identity and sensitive information. Bring two bags of paper to our Shredding Event on Saturday, Oct. 17 at Motivation/Turner Middle School, 5900 Baltimore Ave., to be shredded and safely disposed of on-site. We’ll be there from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. or until the truck gets full, so get there early!

You can register online, or if you’re in Philadelphia, you can visit the 2nd District Satellite Election office at 6100 Woodland Ave. There you can register, update your voter info, locate your polling place, apply for and/or submit your mail-in ballot, and more!

Respect for Disability Community
|
I recently attended the 2026 Disability Summit hosted by my colleague Rep. Joe Hohenstein from Northeast Philadelphia and Cities of Inclusion. This is an amazing opportunity for folks in the community and those who work to support the community to gather and shape the future of how we can improve inclusion and accessibility and uplift our neighbors with disabilities.
Our House Majority Policy Committee held a public hearing as part of the summit, and I spoke to those in attendance about the importance of voting and how doing the research to learn who will prioritize the interests of your community, and making your voice heard at the ballot box is the best way to ensure that your concerns are acknowledged and valued.

Jack Reid was a 17-year-old student whose life was tragically cut short after enduring persistent bullying at a private school. His family endured and fought to create The “Jack Reid Law,” which was enacted in New York State in October 2025 to extend anti-bullying protections to students attending nonpublic schools.
After meeting with his parents, Bill and Elizabeth Reid, I crafted a version of the Jack Reid Law for Pennsylvania, and that bill is now in the House Education Committee.
Click above to read more about how my bill would ensure that all students have access to a safe learning environment regardless of where they attend school.

Save the Date: Human Trafficking Symposium
|
I hope you'll save the date for my Human Trafficking Symposium on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Center City. Plan for a full day of action, education, and discussion about how to work together to end human trafficking and support survivors. We’ll have resources and information for youth, parents, survivors, educators, fighters, and anyone invested in their community. Stay tuned for more information as we confirm details!
We know education can shine a light on so much evil in this world, so I’m looking forward to working with stakeholders to develop prevention education and finding ways to attack misconceptions about trafficking.

I had a great time this week at the Community Job Fair that we attend at the PAL Center hosted by committeeperson Yvette Thompson!
|
Our voter registration event last Friday was a huge success. Thanks to all the folks who came out to see us and ensure their voice can be heard at the ballot box! Special thank you to City Commissioner Omar Sabir and Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton for being there, as well!

Our Medicare informational sessions this week at St. Paul AME and Hardy Williams Veterans Center connected so many people with the resources they need for their healthcare.

My office helps city officials and local organizations connect to state grants available to help them do their important work to improve our communities and the lives of residents. You can find a list of state grant programs that are currently open for application on my website. We update this list as new programs come online so check back often.
