HB 2632 – Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Reform

I know many of you have been reaching out to share your concerns about legislation to improve accountability and transparency of private and parochial school scholarship programs.

Let’s get the most important fact out first: Please be assured that NO dollars are being cut from this program. There is $680 million available for this program today, and $680 million would be available into the future under this bill. No dollars are being cut from the program.

Therefore, there are no cuts to scholarships.

House Bill 2632 simply puts in place additional accountability and transparency provisions to ensure that these dollars are going to help kids and their families cover the cost of their education – especially those kids and families who need them the most. It makes sure that taxpayers know where their tax dollars are going.

House Bill 2632 also allocates funds to the programs that benefit the most kids and to the programs where there is overwhelming demand, including afterschool programs,

STEM learning, workforce development, and other enriching programs, in addition to tuition.

This bill also expands the eligibility to kids ages 0-2 for pre-K.

This bill is about additional accountability, not taking away scholarship funding. It’s about knowing where the money goes and making sure it gets to those with the most need. If it's your tax dollars funding these credits, don’t you deserve to know the money is going to help kids?

Hunting and Trapping Licenses Now on Sale

The Pennsylvania Game Commission announced that its new hunting and trapping licenses for the 2026-27 seasons are now on sale.

The 2026-27 seasons are full of expanded opportunities, according to PA Game Commission Executive Director Stephen Smith, including all hunting seasons being open on Sundays, with the exception of migratory game birds.

All 2025-26 hunting and furtaker licenses will expire on July 1, 2026, and a new license will be needed before heading out.

Hunters can purchase their new licenses in person at any of the 500+ commercial license issuing agents, including county treasurer offices and Game Commission offices. Licenses can also be purchased online at https://www.huntfish.pa.gov/ and licenses and harvest tags will then be mailed to those who purchase online.

The cost for Pennsylvania’s general hunting licenses remains $20.97 for resident adults and $101.97 for nonresident adults, remaining one of the most affordable hunting licenses in the country. A full list of prices can be found online at https://www.pa.gov/agencies/pgc/huntingandtrapping/licenses-and-permits/license-types

Governor Shapiro’s Annual Pride Reception

Last week, I was fortunate enough to join my son, Alex Myers, and a group of fellow lawmakers at the Governor’s Annual Pride reception

held at the Governor’s Mansion.

The focus of the event was the importance of family within the LGBTQ+ community, the supportive role that family plays, and the importance of standing up for those within the community – both kids and adults.

This reception served as a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and solidifies Governor Shapiro’s commitment to LGBTQ+ rights.

Welcome to the Office, Matt!

On Monday, we welcomed Matt Gillman as our newest

Constituent Service Advisor!

Here are a few words from Matt. Please help us welcome him to the 152nd!

Hi, PA House District 152!

It’s my pleasure to introduce myself. My name is Matthew and I have recently joined the office of your representative, Nancy Guenst.

I join you from Chester County, and Washington D.C. before that. I spent 7 years in the District working for a Maryland Congressperson and

the House Sergeant at Arms.

I’ve spent years serving my communities, be it as a boy scout, as a politically engaged student, and now as a constituent services advisor for the PA House.

I enjoy time spent creating in the kitchen, relaxing in the yard, and laughing with my family.

I look forward to serving the 152nd Legislative District well.
