Delivery of PennDOT Camera Cards and Registration Cards Delayed

As a result of an error from a third-party vendor who pre-sorted state agency mail, there are widespread cases of constituents not receiving their camera cards or their vehicle registration cards by mail. In many cases, current or temporary licenses and current registrations are expiring before drivers receive their renewed product in the mail.

The Office of General Services for PA is aware of the problem and working with PennDOT to rectify the situation. Any mail that was not mailed out due to this error should have been mailed out by December 9th and may take 7-10 business days to reach the constituent.

For missing Camera Cards there are two options:

1.) Wait for the camera card to arrive in the mail.

OR:

2.)Take a completed DL-80 (Application for change/correction/replacement) (available in our office) for a replacement camera card without notarization to a PennDOT Driver's License Center. PennDOT will "self-notarize" the form and issue a replacement camera card in person. In this case, the individual may still receive the initial camera card in the mail. The replacement camera card would be the valid one, and the initial camera card received in the mail can be discarded.

For Vehicle Registration Cards, there are two options:

1.) Wait for the vehicle registration card to arrive in the mail.

OR:

2.) Login to PennDOT's website, order a duplicate registration card for no fee, and print out the duplicate registration card. Our office can assist with this and print a duplicate registration card for no fee. The individual may still receive the initial vehicle registration card in the mail. The replacement registration card would be the valid one, and the initial registration card received in the mail can be discarded.

Making Ornaments at Queen of Angels

Last week, I stopped by my alma mater, Queen of Angels School, in Willow Grove to make Christmas ornaments with Ms. Cartlidge’s 4th-grade class. I read them one of my favorite books – Dasher – and we shared a snack and juice box. Then we made ornaments for them to take home to help decorate their tree. They were such polite and respectful kids! They asked me a lot of wonderful questions about my job as a State Representative and tried to guess my age! I look forward to seeing them all in April when they come to Harrisburg for a school field trip and learn all about state government.

Thanks kids, for helping me spread the holiday cheer!

Tour of Sheetmetal Workers Local 19

Last Monday, along with several fellow lawmakers, I was invited to tour the Sheetmetal Workers Local 19 Training Center in Philadelphia. The Sheetmetal Workers Local 19 represents over 4,300 skilled and licensed workers throughout PA, NJ, and DE – providing the highest quality craftsmen for the residential, commercial, and industrial sheet metal industry.

We were able to tour their training facility where they teach the most up-to-date technology so they can better serve their customers, and their members can stay competitive in the workforce. Their training center teaches apprentices and journeypersons these cutting-edge techniques and safety protocols to ensure they are the best trained and safest workforce available.

While promoting higher wages, better benefits, worker protections, and a voice for workers on the job – Local 19 is producing some of the best trained sheet metal workers in the work force.

Thank you for inviting us to see all of the great things you are doing!

Upper Moreland High School Career Day

On Friday, I participated in Upper Moreland High School’s Career Day. While high schoolers often spend a lot of time talking about their post-secondary interests and learning about different career paths – there is nothing like hearing directly from the professionals themselves.

It was such a joy to discuss my job as State Representative with these fine young students. My student volunteer, Naomi, was a wonderful tour guide and ambassador, and we discussed several topics including how I got started and what advice I had for someone who was interested in a career in community service and politics. We also discussed the role I play as a state legislator and what my day-to-day job entails, as well as my time in Harrisburg. Hopefully, by learning more about what I do, it will encourage others who are interested, to consider a career in the legislature.

Thanks to Upper Moreland High School, their students, and staff for hosting such a wonderful event. I look forward to seeing you again next year.
