NEVER FORGET

Today marks the 25^th anniversary of 9/11.

Families of victims will gather for a ceremony on the 9/11 Memorial plaza in New York City to read aloud the names of the 2,983 men, women, and children killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks and February 26, 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

Six moments of silence will mark the times when each of the World Trade Center towers was struck, when each tower fell, and the times corresponding to the attack at the Pentagon, and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. The public can view the live broadcast starting at 8:40 a.m. here.

A memorial service will also occur at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, honoring the 40 passengers and crew killed when they confronted and challenged the hijackers attempting to fly a plane into the U.S. Capitol. Learn more about the Flight 93 Memorial here.

HOUSE IN SESSION IN PHILLY

Pennsylvania is at the heart of America’s 250th – and our Commonwealth has helped shape the course of our nation since its very beginning.

Wednesday night, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives convened at historic Congress Hall in Philadelphia. It was an incredible honor to do the people’s work in a place where the principles enshrined in our Constitution and Bill of Rights helped take root - and where the earliest chapters of our American democracy were written. Those documents established more than a system of government. They affirmed fundamental freedoms, protected individual rights and placed power where it belongs: with “We the People.”

As we celebrate 250 years of American history, we also recommit ourselves to protecting those freedoms and continuing the unfinished work of forming a more perfect Union—one grounded in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for every American.

STATE INVESTMENTS TO PRESERVE HISTORY, CULTURE

Our history is worth protecting, and the $44,000 in grants announced Thursday provide local museums, organizations and historical societies the opportunity to acquire the resources they need to preserve history for generations to come. I remain committed to bringing state investments back to the region to help local projects. We have secured more than $63 million in state funding this legislative session for projects and services that help make Erie and our region a better place to call home. Read more here.

SCAM WARNING FOR MILLCREEK

Scammers are contacting Millcreek Township residents and businesses while posing as township employees. They may claim that a "cost" is due and pressure the person to pay this “fine” immediately. The Millcreek Township Planning and Zoning Department will never ask you for a wire transfer or upfront payment for costs. Any request like this is a scam.

Do not send money or share personal or financial information in response to an unexpected call, email, or message claiming to be from the township. Always be skeptical of urgency, a tactic scammers often use.

FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE SEPT. 18

PRESERVING SAFETY ON THE WATER

Keeping people safe is a full-time job for waterways conservation officers. When you see these boats that patrol Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie, they are helping protect and serve all of us. They use these boats on search and rescue operations if a boat is in distress or to assist people in the water. The boat helps secure the Port of Erie and is equipped with numerous electronic tools, including Raymarine radar and charting/mapping, side scan sonar and a Forward Looking Infrared camera.

The boat was built by Lake Assault boats from Superior, Wisconsin. It is 27 feet long and has two 300 horsepower Mercury motors.

A member of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission met with a member of my team at the Sons of Lake Erie fish fry earlier this month and showcased all the capabilities of the new boat.

Last weekend, I was proud to stand with the working men and women who built our communities and continue moving them forward. I was honored to serve as one of the emcees for the 2026 Labor Day Parade in Downtown Erie and celebrate organized labor and working folks across our region.

EXAMINING SERVICE, NEEDS OF RIVER PILOTS

The House Majority Policy Committee joined the Pilots’ Association for a firsthand look at the critical work river pilots do along the Delaware River.

These highly trained professionals safely climb rope and ladders to board large ships and guide these massive commercial vessels through challenging waterways, helping protect our ports, bridges and communities while keeping goods and commerce moving across Pennsylvania.
