Hi everyone,

With the holidays approaching — and with so many families feeling the squeeze from SNAP disruptions, rising costs, and inflation — our office is teaming up with local partners to make sure neighbors have what they need.

We’ve got two food distributions this week, including one tomorrow:

Food Distribution Event 🥫
Thursday at 10 AM | Roxborough Church
(8230 Ridge Ave)

Kick off the holiday season with a full grocery and pantry distribution in partnership with Share Food Program, Small Things, and The Table Food Pantry. Fresh items, shelf-stable goods, and essentials for the week — no ID or income info needed. Just come by and grab what you need!

Thanksgiving Meal Distribution 🦃
Saturday, 2-4 PM | Newcourtland
(3232 Henry Ave.)

We’re also hosting a free turkey and produce distribution with Peace Islands this Saturday. Turkeys are first-come, first-served — call (215) 482-8726 if you’d like to reserve one.

We hope to see you at one of these events! If you’re interested in helping out or volunteering, please reach out — we’d love to have you at this or any future events. Our office will also have information on SNAP applications and will be able to schedule appointments for assistance during the event.

Common Sense: Cover the Hearing Aids

At today’s Aging Committee hearing, I asked the Insurance Federation why they think insurance companies shouldn’t have to cover hearing aids. Their answer was basically: It costs too much.

But being able to hear isn’t a luxury. It’s how people talk to their family, stay connected to their community, and understand their doctors. Hearing is dignity, plain and simple. I’m going to keep speaking up when big insurers try to put their bottom line ahead of older adults who just want to live their lives in dignity.

💰Cash Back for Working Pennsylvanians

The new Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit is putting real money back into the pockets of people who work hard every day. If you’re working and earning under a certain amount, you could get up to $300 back at tax time, and that is cash you can use for groceries, gas, bills, or whatever your family needs.

I even filmed a video on Main Street asking folks what they would do with an extra $300 in their pocket. Their answers made it clear that people could use some extra help.

If you qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit, you will also qualify for the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit when you file your taxes.

Fresh Food for our Kids

Yesterday, the House Agriculture & Rural Affairs and House Education committees held a hearing on the Keystone Fresh Act (HB 1768) — bipartisan legislation by Rep. Danillo Burgos that would help schools buy fresher, locally grown Pennsylvania foods for their meals.

What stood out to me: When our students in the community get access to real, fresh foods — fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat from right here in PA — you can see the difference. They engage more, they eat better, they connect with the farm-to-table story in their own backyard.

Honoring the Nurse Honor Guard of Bucks County

Earlier this week, I was proud to join Rep. Jim Prokopiak to recognize the Nurse Honor Guard of Bucks County, a volunteer group of nurses who honor fallen nurses with a beautiful end-of-life tribute. We celebrated their service with a citation recognizing their incredible work, and it was especially meaningful to see my mom, Pat Khan, a member of the honor guard, join the nurses and take part in the memorial service to honor nurses who died in 2025.

The group’s tradition of honoring nurses who have passed — with dignity, compassion, and deep respect — reflects the very best of our profession.

Happy Thanksgiving,
