My 2026 Legislative Priorities
|
Friends and neighbors,
As we look ahead to the 2026 General Legislative Session, I wanted to share the priorities I will be focused on and advocating for this session. I believe it is critical that the Legislature pursue common-sense, conservative solutions centered on what matters most to Utah families. That means putting families first by keeping the cost of living low, helping students succeed, and strengthening public safety. At the same time, we must continue investing in Utah’s long-term strength, making government more accountable and fiscally responsible, and safeguarding the natural resources our communities depend on.
Here’s a high-level look at what we’re focused on this session:
|
Cost of Living Utah families are feeling the pressure of rising costs. We’re prioritizing tax relief, reining in property taxes, lowering energy and fuel costs, and keeping homeownership within reach so families can build their futures right here at home.
Strong Families Strong families are the foundation of a strong Utah. We’re advancing policies that reduce the cost of raising a family, support parents, and protect children—especially when it comes to online safety, emerging technologies, and school security.
Limited Government Just like Utah households, government must live within its means. We’re focused on cutting wasteful spending, preparing for federal uncertainty, and keeping decision-making closer to the people—not Washington, D.C.
Infrastructure From roads and transit to energy and water, we’re making smart, long-term investments that support growth, reduce congestion statewide, including rural Utah, and keep utility costs low while powering the next generation.
Accountability & Transparency Utahns deserve a government they can trust. We’re working to restore confidence through greater transparency, stronger election integrity, and accountability across all branches of government—so the people’s voice always comes first.
Public Safety Keeping Utah among the safest states in the nation remains a top priority. That includes partnering with cities and counties to address homelessness with compassion and accountability, supporting law enforcement, and ensuring dangerous criminals are held accountable.
Education We’re committed to academic excellence, safer classrooms, expanded career and technical education, and ensuring higher education delivers real value—preparing students for good jobs without unnecessary costs.
Water Water is essential to Utah’s future. We’re investing in reliable infrastructure, expanding conservation, and continuing responsible efforts to protect and restore the Great Salt Lake for generations to come.

These priorities reflect Utah values: hard work, family, faith, freedom, and accountability. If you’d like to explore the full details, including specific policy actions, check out our priorities website.
The 2026 General Legislative Session begins on January 20, and I would love for you to be part of the process. Your input, ideas, and involvement help shape the decisions we make at the Capitol, and I value hearing directly from you. I encourage you to stay informed, explore our priorities, and engage with us throughout the session—whether in person or online. Working together, we can continue building a strong, prosperous future for Utah families and communities.
Thank you for letting me serve you,

You're Invited: Upcoming Town Hall
|
Please join me for our quarterly townhall this Saturday, January 10th, at 1:00 PM at the South Jordan Public Safety Building (10655 S Redwood Rd, South Jordan, UT 84095). I’ll be there alongside Senator Fillmore and several of my colleagues who represent the southwest corner of the valley to preview the upcoming legislative session.
This is a great opportunity to hear updates on key issues, ask questions, and share your thoughts directly with us. Your input helps guide the work we do on your behalf, and I hope to see you there!

Strong Leadership in Our Community
|
I recently had the chance to attend the swearing-in of Mayor Dawn Ramsey, Councilmember Don Shelton, and Councilmember Jason McGuire following their reelection.
South Jordan is so lucky to be served by these amazing city leaders. Each of them brings integrity, experience, and a genuine commitment to our community. I am grateful for their service and appreciate the steady leadership they, along with the other councilmembers, provide our city. I look forward to continuing to work with them to tackle the challenges facing our community.
The future of South Jordan is bright!

Connecting with Our Education Community
|
One of my favorite parts of serving in the Legislature is getting out of the Capitol and into our schools, sitting down with students, teachers, and administrators, and hearing directly from them about what is working and what challenges they are facing. Those conversations matter, and they help keep my work grounded in the realities of the classroom.
I recently had the chance to visit Elk Ridge Middle School to do just that. Elk Ridge was my middle school when I was a student, and I loved my experience there. A lot has changed over the years, from the building itself to the programs offered, but one thing has not changed, the incredible educators and staff who show up every day for our kids.
The teachers, administrators, and support staff at Elk Ridge are dedicated, thoughtful, and deeply committed to helping students succeed. Conversations like these are an important part of how I stay grounded in the real day to day realities of our schools, and I am grateful for the chance to learn from them.

It has been a true honor to represent South Jordan and West Jordan. This community is home for me. It shaped who I am, and it is where my wife and I are raising our kids. I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me and for the opportunity to serve you at the Capitol.
As a conservative legislator, I remain committed to protecting freedom, strengthening families, supporting great schools, and making sure government is accountable to the people it serves. I believe in practical, common-sense solutions, thoughtful long-term planning, and standing firm on principle, even when the issues are tough.
Utah continues to grow quickly, and with that growth comes real challenges, from housing and transportation to education and public safety. I want to keep working to make sure we manage that growth responsibly so our kids and grandkids inherit the same opportunities that brought so many of us here.
I love this state, and I love this community. Utah works because of the people who live here, raise families here, start businesses here, and invest in their neighborhoods. I would be honored to continue representing you and working alongside you to keep District 44 and Utah a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

I would love to hear from you!
