You can now visit my Hunting Park Avenue Office every third Thursday of the month to receive city services! Our next day is Thursday, Sept. 19 – we’re open from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. so stop by to see how we can best serve you with state AND city resources!

Students returned to Philadelphia public schools on Monday! Hopefully your children are prepared to return with a positive summer experience behind them and the resources, information, and determination to succeed in the 2026-27 school year. Click the graphic above for resources from the School District of Philadelphia including information on the SEPTA bus changes, school calendars, immunization details, and access to the Parent Portal and Family Hub to keep on top of your student’s educational journey this year.

I voted for a state budget that provides an increase of over $157 million into Philadelphia public schools, for a total of over $1.5 billion invested into our schools and students. I was proud to support an additional $10 million increase for Career & Technical Education and a $41.2 million increase for Early Intervention (ages 0-3) across PA. Philadelphia public schools are receiving this more than $1.5 billion investment for a fair and equitable public education as promised in the PA Constitution.

The Pennsylvania Treasury has launched a new online Financial Education Hub, providing a centralized collection of resources to help you improve your financial literacy and make informed financial decisions.

The hub covers topics including budgeting, saving, retirement planning, digital assets and cryptocurrency, along with information about Treasury programs such as PA 529, Keystone Scholars, and PA ABLE. Resources are tailored to groups including students, teachers, active-duty military members, veterans, and older adults.

The general election for 2026 is right around the corner! Now is the time to make sure that you are registered to vote in PA and your voter information is correct (such as your street address, if you moved recently), find where your polling place is located, or to apply for a mail-in ballot. Monday, Oct. 19 is the deadline to register for this important election!

Don’t miss out on the event of the season! Save the date for Sunday, Sept. 20 for my second annual Community Festival! We’ll be at The Dell Music Center from noon until 5 p.m. with plenty of food and fun for you and your family, plus my staff and I will be there to connect you with state and local resources for which you may qualify.

The Philadelphia Division of Reentry is actively recruiting participants for their upcoming Parenting Classes. The 8-week, court-approved program will begin Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Classes will continue every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for eight weeks.

To qualify, interested participants must:

• Be justice-impacted.
• Be the parent or legal guardian of a child under the age of 18.
• Be a Philadelphia resident.

I’m asking you and one million of our friends and neighbors to sign my online petition and join the fight to get to One Million Signatures to be delivered to Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman to increase the minimum wage now!

Every state bordering Pennsylvania has a higher minimum wage, and 22 states have already increased theirs for 2026. Working Pennsylvanians deserve a living wage, and I will continue fighting in Harrisburg to ensure fair pay for all workers.

We are so close now and we’re going to make this happen - it’s beyond time to RAISE THE WAGE!

Save the date for the 4th Annual Community Sneaker Ball & Resource Fair on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. with The Show Me the Way Foundation at 28th St. and W. Allegheny Ave. This free event is a day full of fun, food, community, plus contests, back-to-school supplies, and more!

Remember to bring a box or tote for the free food giveaway at the Sneaker Ball, only happening from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Don’t miss the Division of Reentry Resource Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 16 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at 1425 Arch St. Check the flier above for the resources and services that will be available for you!

Don’t forget the Philly Foodworks Farmstand every Friday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 1978 W. Hunting Park Ave.

The PA State Treasury has $40 million in unclaimed property that belongs to residents of the 190th District - so some of it could belong to YOU! It could be as simple as a misspelled name or an out-of-date address that’s keeping you from your claim. My office is here to help you search for any uncashed checks or payments, old bank accounts, tangible property, or any other assets that could belong to you. Contact my office so we can connect you with any possible unclaimed property that is rightfully yours!
