On Wednesday, our team was invited to Family First Health to celebrate National Health Center Week to honor the vital work of community health centers in providing accessible, high-quality healthcare!

It was an amazing opportunity to learn about the kinds of work Family First Health does to serve the community and to meet the staff who are behind delivering affordable healthcare to everyone in need. The staff showed us around the facility and provided us with information about the kinds of work they do inside and outside the facility to promote health and wellness.

We are grateful to the staff at Family First Health for their work, hospitality, and welcome. Your hard work and dedication help make an impact on people’s lives throughout our community!

Also on Wednesday, our district office was pleased to participate in the Penn State OLLI Senior Resource Fair. We had the opportunity to share information about the services and resources available through our office for older residents.

The event brought together a variety of organizations, including Rabbit Transit and Penn State Health, dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of our community. We appreciate everyone who contributed to the event and enjoyed the opportunity to build new connections to better serve you!

Tuesday night, our district office was proud to participate in this year’s National Night Out! The event provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with community members, share our office resources, and celebrate our partnerships.

On Saturday, August 1st, our team was proud to participate in Social Friendship Lodge’s Annual Back-to-School Giveaway!

It was an incredible opportunity to help students head back to the classroom prepared and ready to learn. Throughout the event, backpacks filled with essential school supplies were distributed to local students, giving families one less thing to worry about as they get ready for the first day of school. Seeing the excitement on the students' faces and the appreciation from parents made the day especially rewarding!

A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers, community partners, and everyone who contributed to making this event possible. Your generosity and support help create brighter beginnings for students throughout our community.

Also on Saturday, my team and I had the privilege of volunteering at the Harvest of Blessings Back to School Giveaway!

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community while helping local families prepare for the upcoming school year. Our team distributed free backpacks filled with school supplies, along with household essentials, to ensure students and their families had the resources they needed for a successful start to the school year. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this event possible and to the families who joined us.

Congratulations to Jacob Grove and Abhiyan Budhathoki of Troop 23 on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting!

During a special citation presentation at our district office on Monday, both Scouts were recognized for their dedication, leadership, and community service. We congratulate Jacob and Abhiyan and wish them continued success in all their future endeavors!

Our district has over $3 million in unclaimed property! If you have received a letter from the PA Department of Treasury, you can come down to our office for assistance to reclaim any unclaimed property owed to you or your loved ones.

ATTENTION: Community Progress Council announced that the York City Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) clinic currently located at 130 W. Market St. will be relocating.  

They have begun communication with participants whose next appointments fall on or after Thursday, October 1st.  

This relocation places the WIC program in the same building as many of Community Progress Council’s other programs, including Head Start and Pre-K classrooms, Housing & Financial Education, Coaching, and Navigators to help families connect to services and referrals. Free on-site parking will also be available.  

The valuable resources and support that WIC offers will not change, nor will the referral process for their community partners and interested families. Anyone who would like to enroll in WIC can call 717-846-4600 and connect with a Navigator to get started.

If you applied for a rebate through the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program and included your phone number on your application, you will receive an automated call from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue to let you know your rebate has been approved for payment. These calls are designed to keep applicants updated about their rebate status.

Remember that rebate distribution started on July 1, 2026, and Rebates typically take at least 6-8 weeks from submission to distribution.

Commonwealth Financing Authority: Local Share Account: Category 4 Facilities Program (Berks, Cumberland, Westmoreland, and York Counties)

Who May Apply: Municipalities, counties, redevelopment authorities, or economic development agencies in a county hosting a Category 4 licensed gaming facility.

Use: Projects in the public interest.

Funds: Funded by gaming revenues from Category 4 licensed facilities.

Application Deadline: September 30, 2026

Commission on Crime and Delinquency: Nonprofit Security Grant Funds

Who May Apply: Nonprofit organization based in Pennsylvania that serves primarily individuals, groups, or institutions that are included within a bias motivation category for single hate crime incidents identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Use: Security enhancements designed to protect the safety and security of the users of a facility including but not limited to safety and security planning, purchase of safety and security equipment, safety and security training, purchase of security-related technology, and specialty-trained canines, among other projects
Funds: $10 million is available for projects.

Commission on Crime and Delinquency: 2026 First Chance Trust Fund

Who May Apply: Eligibility for these funds is open to any school district identified as having statistically higher high school dropout and incarceration rates based on data from the PA Department of Education and the PA Department of Corrections. Please refer to Appendix A for a full listing of eligible school districts.

Use: Direct financial support to eligible students via scholarship, administrative support directly related to the administration of student scholarships and connecting at-risk youth with community-based organizations, or community-based organization (CBO) direct programming support.

Funds: A total of $3.3 million in state funding is being made available to support this initiative. PCCD anticipates awarding up to $150,000 per grantee for an initial two-year project period.

PA Fresh Food Financing Initiative - Applications Due September 15th

A statewide public-private financing program administered by The Food Trust, PA FFI provides grants and technical assistance to nonprofit, for-profit, and cooperative food businesses that help increase access to healthy, affordable food and improve economic opportunities for low- to moderate-income residents of urban, suburban, and rural areas of PA. Grant awards will range from $5,000 to $200,000.

SUN Bucks is a federal program that provides eligible children’s families with a SNAP-like benefit to purchase food for the summer months when school is not in session.

Most eligible children will automatically receive the benefit and do not need to apply, including those who already receive free and reduced-price school meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) during the school year.
