Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I hope you find this week’s News and Events email helpful as we look at what’s coming up in and around the district.  As always, my team and I are here to help you with any state-related matter and are happy to provide as much information as we can.

Whether you need a service, want to share your concerns, offer ideas or drop off a donation for one of our drives, we’d love to see you at my district office during our walk-in hours of 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday.  Alternatively, feel free to reach out at (215) 517-6800 or via email at RepSanchez@pahouse.net.

Wishing you and yours a good week ahead.

Sincerely,

State Representative Ben Sanchez

Memorial Day Weekend

On Memorial Day we pause to remember and honor America’s servicemembers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage and dedication inspire us and remind us of the true cost of the liberties we enjoy.

Memorial Day is a reminder of the somber truth that freedom isn’t free. It's important to honor the memories of fallen servicemembers not just with words, but with actions that embody the values they fought to protect.

Thank you to all of our Military servicemembers for your dedication to our country.

Please Note: My Office will be closed in observance of Memorial Day from Friday, May 22nd at noon through Monday, May 25th.

Thank you for coming to our Senior Fair

Thank you to everyone who came out to our annual Senior Resource Fair last week. It's a pleasure to partner with Rep. Melissa Cerrato and Rep. Nancy Guenst to bring community resources to our communities every year.

This year, we filled our table slots faster than ever before which shows just how much these resources want to be able to connect with our constituents. Thank you to all who were able to participate and for those who didn't sign up in time, we are already looking to see how we can fit more resource tables next year. Stay tuned!

Abington-Jenkintown Connection Ribbon Cutting

Abington-Jenkintown Connections Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was ten years in the making and began while I was still a Commissioner for Abington Township.

This project was the culmination of a decade of hard work and dedication from Abington Township and Jenkintown Borough and required a successful and lasting partnership with the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, PA Department of Transportation and Abington Friends School.

I am extremely proud of the hard-working individuals in the Abington Township Engineering Department and Public Works Department for completing these arduous first four phases of a five-phase project which addressed everything from walkability between townships to much needed stormwater management upgrades.

Congratulations to all involved in seeing this through. I look forward to using these pathways and roadway crossings for years to come.

SEPTA Senior Fair Card Delays

Our office has recently been made aware of a delay in processing SEPTA Senior Fair cards. While the application and renewal service is a convenience courtesy that we provide in our district offices so that residents do not have to go to Center City to obtain their passes in person, we want to make sure that you are aware that, temporarily, the SEPTA offices are overwhelmed with requests, therefore there is a delayed turnaround of six to eight weeks to get your pass back in the mail when coming into our office.

For renewals, this creates an added layer of complication as you can only renew a SEPTA card within 30 days of expiration. Therefore, if you are someone whose card is expiring soon, and you rely on these cards to travel daily, we are recommending that you go to 1234 Market Street to obtain your card same-day.

We appreciate your patience and hope that the delay is resolved soon by SEPTA.  For those of you who are obtaining a new card or are not impacted by the delay, we are still happy to process your cards here.
