As we prepare to welcome 2026, I want to take a moment to reflect on the past year and the challenges our community has faced. The events at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bristol Township last week were a stark reminder of how quickly life can change and how vital it is that we support one another. My thoughts remain with the residents, their families, and the staff, as well as the first responders who worked tirelessly to ensure everyone’s safety.

This past year has demonstrated the resilience, courage, and compassion that define our community. In moments of difficulty, we are reminded of the strength that comes from standing together, supporting one another, and caring for those around us.

As we enter 2026, let us carry forward the lessons of empathy, preparedness, and community. May the New Year bring safety, hope, and renewed opportunities to connect with and uplift one another. I wish everyone a peaceful, healthy, and happy New Year.

Some pharmacy network notices may be incorrect

The Pennsylvania Insurance Department urges Pennsylvanians to verify whether their local pharmacy is still in-network for their insurance. PID received reports that some consumers were incorrectly notified that certain trusted local pharmacies were no longer in-network. The department is investigating the issue and working with insurers, partner organizations, and state and federal agencies to ensure accurate information is provided.

The Shapiro administration recognizes that community and independent pharmacies are essential to health care access in Pennsylvania. By providing personalized prescription services close to home—services that large chains or mail-order options often cannot—these pharmacies help Pennsylvanians manage chronic conditions, understand their medications, and receive timely care within their communities. Incorrect notices about network status can disrupt continuity of care, create unnecessary stress for patients, and negatively impact local providers.

Consumers who received a letter stating that their pharmacy is out of network should contact their insurance company or pharmacy benefits manager directly to confirm their status. In some cases, PBMs have issued corrected letters confirming that the pharmacy remains in network.

Pennsylvanians with questions or complaints about their health insurance can visit pa.gov/consumer or call 1-866-PA-COMPLAINT (1-866-722-6675).
