Retired Status Vehicle Registration is a discounted vehicle registration processing fee that is available for retired people who meet the requirements.

To qualify for Retired Status Vehicle Registration, you need to:

• Be retired and receiving Social Security, SSI payments, retirement benefits, or other pensions and annuities.
• Your total income should be $30,778 or less, including income from business, rental, and unemployment.
• You must be the main driver of the vehicle you're registering, unless you're mentally or physically incapable.
• Your vehicle must weigh 9,000 lbs. or less.

Note: Only one vehicle per qualified applicant may be registered for the retired status fee.

Last week, I was invited to cut the ribbon at the newest eatery in Hatboro, Philly Philly Cheesesteaks on York Road.

Owners Sal and Rose DiMaggio have created a wonderful space in Hatboro with delicious food, including cheesesteaks, cutlet sandwiches, salads, burgers, and more! We are so excited to have them open directly across from our office. I know the staff will be frequent visitors!

Lower Moreland Township was awarded $268,307 to complete a full modernization of the traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Welsh Road and Pine Road.

This will make this a safer corridor for everyone traveling through it. I was happy to work with state Senator Maria Collett to secure state funding that helps keep people moving safely and efficiently in Montgomery County.

The Resilience Resource Center will soon launch an expanded weekday program for LGBTQIA+ youth. This program will provide a safe and affirming space after school, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The youth community will have access to homework support, creative arts, wellness activities, life skills, career exploration, peer connections, and snacks—all within a welcoming environment.

Abington Fest is back this year with three days of community celebrations! From Friday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 4th, join Abington Township for a fun-filled weekend featuring a movie night under the stars, a 5K Race and Kids' Dash, a Fall Festival with activities like Touch a Truck - Trunk or Treat, and a special Parent-Child Golf Tournament. Whether you're running, exploring, dressing up, or teeing off, Abington Fest is the perfect way to enjoy the season with family, friends, and neighbors. Don't miss this exciting weekend of community spirit and Fall fun!

Registration is OPEN for the 5K Race, Kids' Dash, and the Golf Tournament.

Back to School Drive.

Each year, donations support families receiving services through the Montgomery County Human Services Center. This year, they are expanding their efforts and will also distribute 250 backpacks at the Black Author Expo on August 22nd.

The greatest needs this year are backpacks, along with other school supplies such as:

• Binders and pocket folders
• Crayons and colored pencils
• Flash drives
• Glue and glue sticks
• Highlighters and index cards
• Notebooks and loose-leaf paper
• Pencils, pens, erasers, and rulers
• Disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer
• Tissues and paper towels
• Combination locks
• Headphones
• Lunch bags
• Pencil cases

The donation box will be available to accept drop-offs until August 20th.

SFMNP provides eligible low-income seniors with access to locally grown fruits and vegetables in Pennsylvania. Eligible participants will receive five $5 vouchers (totaling $25) to use at authorized farmers' markets and produce stands across the state.  

The Montco office will be distributing vouchers both by mail and at select pop-up events across the county. Once the distribution event schedule is finalized, it will be posted on the Montco Share page.

Our office WILL NOT be a distribution site this year.

Completed applications can be submitted by mail or email to infomhs@sharefoodprogram.org. We also have paper applications available in our office.

• June 1st: First day seniors could redeem SFMNP checks for fresh produce purchased from approved farmers.
• September 15th: Last day to mail SFMNP applications.
• September 30th: Last day to issue SFMNP checks (in person and by mail).
• November 30th: Last day for participants to use their 2026 SFMNP checks.
