Dear Neighbor,

Happy Spring! I hope you’ve been able to enjoy the outdoors as the weather warms and our beautiful Pennsylvania greenery bursts on to the scene again.

Pennsylvania offers many ways to get outside year-round. Whether you’re exploring here in Chester County or venturing somewhere new across the state, there’s always something great to experience. You can check out the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Recreation Page for all of the ways to enjoy our commonwealth outdoors year-round.

Adjacent to the weather we’re having are heating and cooling issues at home. There is still cold weather left to be had, and for households that need help with heating bills, the LIHEAP program has been extended until May 8. Find out here if you qualify.

Speaking of energy costs, I want to share a few updates on that front:

Last week, PECO filed a request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to significantly increase its gas and electricity rates beginning next year. On average, these rate hikes would cost families an additional $20.08 per month for electricity and $14.52 per month for natural gas.

I joined with my colleagues in a letter to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission asking them to reject PECO’s rate hikes and hold four public hearings on the proposals, one in each of Philadelphia’s collar counties. Holding local hearings will allow for greater accessibility and transparency for our constituents, who deserve to be a part of this process.

No one should have to choose between utilities or food or rent. I encourage you to use YOUR voice to speak out and let PECO know our community can't afford additional rate hikes.

I will keep you updated on our progress.

Thank you for showing up in the district!

My office staff and I already hosted two events this spring – and it was a pleasure seeing and meeting everyone who came out!

On March 31, I hosted a Coventry Area Town Hall. For me, the event highlighted that people in our district are deeply engaged on a variety of issues, which is critically important as we work together to build a strong sense of community.

My team and I are grateful to work for you and with you!

And thank you to all the veterans who attended my Veterans Breakfast on March 20! I hope you felt just how grateful our team and your community are for you and your service.

I want to thank U.S. Representative Chrissy Houlahan and State Representative Chris Pielli for attending and sharing their thoughts. I also appreciate the Royersford Fire Department Honor Guard. And finally, thank you to Chester County Technical High School - Pickering Campus for hosting and providing breakfast.

Sincerely,

Joy of Sox spreads warmth

Thank you to everyone who donated socks for our “Joy of Sox” sock drive. Between our student advisory committee participants and their schools, and folks from around the district who placed socks in community donation bins, we collected 430 pairs of socks to share with those in need!

St. Peter's project update

Work on the St. Peter’s project remains on track for completion in June. The contractor has completed all 58 caissons and piles and has installed all 57 bays of concrete wall panels. They are approximately halfway through pouring the slabs that connect the wall to the roadway. Roadway excavation has begun.

We are glad to see the progress and looking forward to a rebuilt and restored TWO LANE road in AND out of the village!

Keim Street Bridge update

H&K Group will continue to work during daylight hours, Monday through Thursday for 10 hours per day and 8 hours on Friday, weather permitting. H&K Group will also continue installing overhangs and decking. The current projected completion date is December 30, 2027.

Pennsylvania PUC public input hearings in Chester County

Pennsylvania has some of the highest water rates in the nation, and two of the largest water providers in the state have proposed a merger that would create a monopoly. If approved, a merger of Pennsylvania American Water and Essential Utilities (the parent company of Aqua Pennsylvania) would create the largest private water utility in the country.

I oppose this merger and urge you to act if you agree. A series of Public Input Hearings, sponsored by the PUC, is your opportunity to speak up.

Wednesday, April 22 – Penn State Great Valley Conference Center

30 Swedesford Rd., Malvern, PA 19355

  • Hearing #1 will begin at 1 p.m.
  • Hearing #2 will begin at 6 p.m.

Telephonic Public Input Hearings will be on April 28 at 1 p.m. & 6 p.m. If you wish to testify at the telephonic hearing, preregistration is encouraged by April 27.
