SAVE THE DATE, AUG. 17

I’m hoping you are able to join us on Monday, August 17th from 9 a.m. to noon for a one-stop-shop event connecting seniors, caregivers, and families with valuable resources, services, health information, veteran benefits, technology assistance, consumer protection support, and so much more.

WORKING TO DELIVER RESULTS AT HOME

If gas in your car – or groceries in your fridge – sounds like money in the bank, you’re not alone. The cost of living has hit workers hard. Just paying for essentials has become increasingly more difficult.

A report this week notes more Americans are buying groceries on credit and savings, not because they are being reckless – but because it’s a way to survive surging prices from tariffs and the war in Iran.

My goal in Harrisburg has always been to deliver results at home. This budget is about making Pennsylvania more affordable – without raising your taxes.

That has meant seven tax cuts for you and small businesses since 2023.

We put more money back in the hands of seniors through our rebate programs. We put more money in the hands of working families by increasing dependent and childcare tax credits.

And we continue to invest in Pennsylvania’s future. We delivered a budget to keep our streets safe, deliver the funding needed for our high-performing schools, create jobs, help small businesses and fight out-of-control price spikes.

LOOKING AFTER THOSE WHO LOOKED AFTER US

This year's budget provided our retired teachers, cops and firefighters with a long-overdue raise.

It's time we looked after the public servants who looked after us.

SAINT PAUL’S MARKETPLACE

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to tour the future Saint Paul’s Marketplace with the team from Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA. It was inspiring to see firsthand how this innovative partnership will make a real difference in our community. By providing fresh, nutritious food in a welcoming, grocery store-style setting, the Marketplace will soon be helping families access healthy meals with dignity while connecting them to other important community resources. Thank you to everyone working to make this vision a reality and strengthen the Triangle of Hope initiative here in Erie. I’m looking forward to seeing this project completed.

CHANGES ARE ON HORIZON

Big changes are coming to Medicaid. PA's Department of Human Services has published a lot of information to help people prepare for 2027. Please remember to pay attention to dhs.pa.gov/MedicaidChanges and review all letters you receive from DHS in the coming months.

Knowing that these changes are on the horizon:

  • keep your contact information up to date with DHS.
  • use the online COMPASS application for renewals to make sure paperwork doesn't get lost in the mail.
  • if you need help getting information to DHS, call my office.
  • if you get denial notices or requests for follow up information, work through my office to address those issues.

You can see how the House voted on every bill here.

INVESTING IN SCHOOLS, NEXT GENERATION

Building a stronger workforce starts with building stronger schools. This year's budget will continue to provide our high-performing schools and local students with the opportunity to thrive. We are investing in our future—and we did it without raising your taxes.

STATEWIDE WORK CONTINUES

As chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, I serve on the House Majority Leadership team and tour the state listening to the concerns and issues facing people across PA. The committee has held 74 hearings across 50 neighborhoods so far this legislative session, with 50 different leaders hosting events.

UP NEXT: The committee travels to Chester County Aug. 3-5.
