NEW SNAP Documentation Requirements

Beginning in February 2026, under new federal guidelines, SNAP applicants and recipients must now provide verification of shelter costs and utility responsibility. Applicants and recipients must provide proof of these costs at application and at renewal if they are not already on file with the PA Department of Human Services. SNAP households will need to submit new documentation if they move to a different residence.

Previously, SNAP recipients only needed to report their shelter costs and utility responsibility to the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services but did not need to provide supporting documentation.

Not providing shelter/utility cost verifications will not cause benefits to close or an application to be rejected. However, SNAP households that do not provide verification of shelter and utility costs will have their SNAP benefits evaluated without the shelter and utility deductions. This could result in a decrease in SNAP benefits.

Please be aware of this change and bring in the proper documents when coming into our office to submit your SNAP application or renewal.

PECO Set to Expand Their Customer Relief Fund

In partnership with the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, PECO is expanding the PECO Customer Relief Fund! Through a contribution from Exelon, PECO’s parent company, an additional $2.5 million will be added to the existing fund to support customers across southeastern Pennsylvania.

New funding will be available to eligible customers beginning March 2. This is a one-time grant of $750. Previous grant recipients will receive an additional $250, bringing all CRF customer grants to $750. Grants will appear in qualifying customers’ bills as credits.

In addition to increased funding, more customers will now be eligible to receive the grant as new eligibility requirements have been introduced.

NEW: Customers must be in arrears (not exceeding $2500), with a household income that falls between 0 and 150% of the Federal Poverty Level, which would enable a family of four making $48,228 or less per year to qualify, based on current federal guidelines.

EXISTING: Customers must be in arrears (not exceeding $2500), with a household income that falls between 151 and 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, which would enable a family of four making between $48,229 and $96,456 per year to qualify, based on current federal guidelines.
