Addressing rising energy prices

This week, the House Consumer Protection, Technology, and Utilities Committee held a joint meeting with the Energy Committee to discuss energy affordability. We explored the reasons behind rising utility bills and considered what actions we, as representatives, can take to help reduce costs.

In Pennsylvania, heating your home in the winter or keeping the lights on for your small business is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. At this meeting, we went beyond identifying existing programs and focused on developing legislative solutions.

With snow and cold weather on the way, I wanted to remind everyone that applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program are now available.

Through the program, you can apply for a cash grant to help pay your heating bill—from $200 to $1,000 based on your household size, income, and fuel type.
