| It was a lot of fun to attend two National Night Out (NNO) gatherings in the district this past Tuesday. Airuel Singletary of Valleybrook Improvement Association and Max Wolfhal of Queen Anne Village HOA organized great events featuring activities for kids and snowballs, hamburgers, and hot dogs. Many thanks to Airuel and Max for the community leadership they provide year-round! | Dana and Airuel Singletary at National Night Out | Dana and Max Wolfhal at National Night Out | Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company Visit | It was great to visit the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company (PVFC) on July 12th at their station. As part of the visit, I joined PVFC members for their training at the Milford Mill Subway station. I went up with Captain Glenn Resnick in the bucket of the aerial ladder on their Tower 323, 100 feet high. It was a lot of fun! Many thanks for the opportunity to join the fire company, and most of all thank you for the dedicated service of the many volunteers of PVFC. | Dana with Captain Glenn Resnick | Pikesville Mural Project Dedication | On July 18, the 1000 Friends of Pikesville and the Greater Baltimore Chamber of Commerce hosted a block party to celebrate the dedication of Pikesville's first publicly-funded community mural at 1220 Reisterstown Road. It's a beautiful mural, designed by artist Jaz Erenberg, and is a wonderful, inspiring addition to the area. It was fun to attend the block party! | Dana with Ruth Goldstein, County Executive Johnny Olszewski, Beth Rheingold, Jaz Erenberg, and Councilman Izzy Patoka | Thank you to the Baltimore County Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for hosting its annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 15th. It was a wonderful celebration that featured music, community resources, and food trucks and it was held at the Liberty Court Center. Thank you to the Deltas for a great Juneteenth celebration! | Dana with Delegate Carl Jackson, Delegate Cheryl Pasteur, Airuel Singletary, Speaker Adrienne Jones, Councilman Julian Jones, and Delegate Sheila Ruth | Senator William H Amoss Memorial Firefighters Legislative Award | I was honored to receive the Senator William H Amoss Memorial Firefighters Legislative Award on June 18th from the Maryland State Firefighters Association for my legislative work supporting the Maryland Fire Rescue and Emergency Medical Services. Senator Sarah Elfreth and Senator Guy Guzzone and Delegate Emily Shetty also received the legislative awards. One of the best things about the day was seeing my good friend former Delegate Jimmy Malone. | Dana with former Delegate Jimmy Malone | Maryland Two-Fifty Commission | The Maryland Two Fifty Commission hosted an event at the Maryland State House on June 22nd and it was absolutely wonderful. The Commission commemorated Frederick Douglass’ 1874 visit to Annapolis where he recited George Washington’s resignation speech in the State House. Nathan Richardson’s portrayal of Frederick Douglass was enthralling. It was great to be with Commission Chair (and Commission member) Senator Ben Brooks, and Executive Director Michele Waxman Johnson. | Dana with Nathan Richardson, former Governor Parris Glendening, and Michele Waxman Johnson | I want to give a special shout out to Cheder Chabad and Talmudical Academy for their weekly food distribution program, through MSDE's Food Service program. Every Sunday, the groups distribute thousands of food boxes at Stevenson University (11100 Ted Herget Way) (9 am - 1 pm) and 5616 Old Court Road in Windsor Mill (4 pm - 8 pm). Thank you to Cheder Chabad and TA for your dedicated efforts! | Save the date for the 2nd annual PowerHour Event | Please join Senator Brooks and me for a special event to connect residents with energy resources. Bring your family, meet neighbors, win prizes, and learn about opportunities to save energy, lower your utility bills, and other resource programs and tips.
