Queen of Angels 4th Grade Field Trip to Harrisburg

Ms. Cartlidge’s 4th grade class from Queen of Angels School in Willow Grove, PA visited Harrisburg for a tour of the Capitol to learn all about state government. They also were able to visit the State Museum of Pennsylvania where they were able to learn about the cultural and natural history of the state.

I love it when young minds are at work and these kids all have a very bright future!

Keep up the good work, kiddos!

64th Annual Crooked Billet Day

Hats off to Crooked Billet School! On May 1st, my staffer Laura attended the 64th consecutive Crooked Billet Day celebration at Crooked Billet Elementary School. This day commemorates the battle that took place on the very site of the school on May 1st, 1778. It’s always so fun to see the children dressed up in their revolutionary clothing and learn all about the history of the battle.

Thank you for always including my office in your celebrations!

Out of the Darkness Walk at Lower Moreland High School

My staffer, Laura, was honored to attend Lower Moreland High School’s Out of the Darkness walk this past Saturday. This walk was sponsored through the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and helps to support those affected by suicide and raise funds which will go directly to fund research for suicide prevention, create and distribute educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. Thanks to the fundraising of this walk, we can create a culture that is smarter about mental health.

Many thanks to the students at Lower Moreland High School, including our intern Yuki, for being a force for change in mental health and suicide awareness. The poems and songs by the students were beautiful and resonated so much with the family and friends of those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

If you are struggling or know someone struggling, please reach out. There is a way out of the darkness. Dial 988 or 988lifeline.org for help.

Freedom Steps 5K And Upper Moreland Community Picnic

On Sunday, my staffer Gina attended and volunteered at the Freedom Steps 5K at Masons Mill Park. Freedom Steps focuses on the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom. All the money raised through the race is used to purchase supplies and cover shipping costs to our deployed troops. The organization also supports veterans once they return home by offering community support. Thanks to those who organize and run this important event every year!

Gina was also at the Upper Moreland Township's Semiquincentennial Celebration Picnic on Saturday! It was a fun day filled with food, vendors, music, and activities for the whole family. Thanks to those who stopped by our table to say hello.
