A very special session day at Congress Hall

Last week, my colleagues and I participated in a historic moment to honor America's 250th birthday. Thanks to America250PA, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives was able to hold a special session in this historic location. Stepping into Congress Hall, where our nation's first leaders legislated the laws from 1790-1800, was incredibly humbling.

During Congress Hall's tenure as the home to the United States government, the country admitted three new states, Vermont, Kentucky, and Tennessee; ratified the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution; and oversaw the presidential inaugurations of both George Washington (second term) and John Adams. To be able to say that I legislated in the same space as our founding fathers is something I will remain grateful for throughout my lifetime.

Willow Grove NAACP's Annual Unity Day

It was another fantastic Unity Day event organized by the Willow Grove Naacp this past weekend.

Thank you to all who came to my office's table to say hello and thank you to the NAACP for organizing such a wonderful community event each year.

Local Share Account (LSA) Grant Awards Announced

I was proud to advocate for and announce these impactful grant awards for our district. See below for the projects that were awarded in our district and my comments made in a joint press release with State Senators Maria Collett and Art Haywood.

The Local Share Account (LSA) Grant program runs through the Commonwealth Finance Authority and is open to projects that improve the quality of life of citizens in the community. Eligible projects must be owned and maintained by an eligible applicant or a nonprofit organization. These include Pennsylvania Counties, Municipalities, Municipal Authorities, Economic Development Agencies, Redevelopment Authorities, Land Banks, and Councils of Government.

✅ Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority – $200,000 to install safety and security measures at Fairwold Academy

"I am proud to support the Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority and PHMC in securing LSA funds to enhance safety and security at Fairwold Academy. These improvements are essential to ensuring that students with complex emotional, behavioral, and intellectual needs learn in an environment that is secure, supportive, and prepared for any emergency. This investment reflects our commitment to safeguarding every child in the commonwealth and strengthening the institutions that serve them."

✅ Rockledge Borough ($500,000 towards their Jarrett Playground Community Building)

✅ Abington Township ($1,000,000 towards the design and architecture work for a new Community Center)

"Investing in places where neighbors come together is one of the most meaningful commitments we can make. Rockledge Borough's Jarrett Playground Community Building and Abington Township’s new community center are more than construction projects, they strengthen local families, create safe spaces for recreation, expand opportunities for learning, and support the health and connection of the entire community. These projects are long-term investments in our shared future, and I was proud to support both Rockledge and Abington as they sought grant funding for these important efforts."

PennDOT is holding a Hiring Event this weekend

Join PennDOT at its upcoming job fair on Saturday, September 19th, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., at the maintenance office at 2005 Swede Road in Norristown.

Be sure to bring two forms of ID, a valid CDL, and a medical certificate for operator interviews and road testing.

BALLOT DROP BOXES for upcoming November elections available in District

Secure ballot drop boxes are set to open on September 18th for the 2026 General Elections.

Montgomery County Board of Elections will operate multiple secure ballot drop boxes throughout the County to help voters meet the November 3, 2026 deadline. Residents can deposit mail-in ballots and absentee ballots at a secure ballot drop box as an alternative to returning their ballot by USPS mail.

Remember, you may only return your own ballot to a secure ballot drop box.

Ballots are collected from the drop boxes daily by County Security and stored securely at the Voter Services office.

There are two secure ballot drop boxes in our district, find the one closest to you:

Abington Township Municipal Building (1176 Old York Road, Abington, PA)
Upper Dublin Public Library (520 Virginia Drive, Fort Washington, PA)

Secure ballot drop boxes are available 24/7 through 8:00pm on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Changes in Medicaid are coming!

Big changes are coming to Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program beginning January 1st, 2027. Under a new federal law, some adults ages 19-64 will need to meet new work and community-engagement requirements, and some Medicaid recipients will have their eligibility reviewed every six months instead of annually.

If you receive Medicaid, it is important to make sure that DHS has your current address and contact information so you do not miss notices about your benefits. You can update your information through COMPASS and sign up for text and email alerts from DHS.
