PGA Tour Returns to Torrey Pines Golf Course for 60th Year with New Sponsor
|
San Diego welcomes Sentry Insurance as the new title sponsor of the Torrey Pines PGA Tour stop in January 2027, which will be named “The Sentry”. The Sentry will mark the 60th consecutive year that the PGA returns to Torrey Pines Golf Course, a unique accomplishment and testament not only to the exceptional care of the course by City staff but to our community as well. The tournament has always been significant to the City, and in particular to D1, as an economic driver, key piece of San Diego’s sporting identity, and—importantly—a point of community pride and excitement. I am thrilled that the partnership between the City, PGA Tour, Sentry Insurance, and the Century Club will continue to showcase D1 on a global platform.

Map of Patched Potholes in D1
|
In the First Quarter 2026, the Transportation Department patched 17,571 potholes across the City, with an average time to patch of 10 days. Pothole requests come from both the public’s Get It Done requests as well as those observed by city crews while out in the field. In D1, during the same period, city crews patched 2,438 potholes in total, averaging less than an 8 day turnaround. More narrowly, another D1 highlight includes 585 Get It Done pothole patches completed, leaving only 25 public Get It Done pothole requests unfilled. The turnaround and the data-driven approach by the Transportation Department is further evidence that the public’s use of Get It Done is a powerful driver to set city priorities.
Please continue to use the Get It Done App or the Get It Done page on sandiego.gov to report potholes, tree maintenance issues, sidewalks in need of repair, and more.

Independent Budget Analyst Releases Two Reports This Week
|
The Independent Budget Analyst (IBA) released the “FY 2027 Councilmember Budget Modification Memoranda” report on Tuesday. The report compiles budget-priority memoranda from all Councilmembers that identify specific expenditure priorities and potential new funding sources not included in the FY 2027 Proposed Budget or the May Revision. My final memorandum can be found on pages 2-5 of the report.
The IBA also released the “Recommended City Council Modifications to the Mayor’s Proposed FY 2027 Budget and Review of the May Revision,” which consolidates priorities that are supported by 5 or more councilmembers, and presented it to the Budget Review Committee this morning. This report is a comprehensive and critical tool to assist the public and councilmembers in final deliberations and possible amendments to the Proposed Budget.
City Council will meet on Tuesday, June 9th, to vote on the FY 2027 Budget in chambers at 1:00 P.M.

Team LaCava celebrates Pride Month. While San Diego conducts its Pride celebrations in July, June is recognized nationally as Pride Month to commemorate the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots.
Pride Month celebrates the LGBTQI+ community and honors the enduring legacy and courage of the activists and individuals who stood firmly to call for equality to love who they love and show up fully as who they are. Though we recognize that the fight for equality is not over yet, we celebrate how far we have come and recommit to forward progress.
